Interesting in hearing what TBR'ers contribute to their retirement plan. Since the national savings average is actually negative, it be interesting to see if the board reflects the national average. I have usually been in the 6% range as my employeer matches up to 4% now and will match the full 6% after a couple more years of service. I got a little uppity a couple of days ago and upped my part to 10%. Doesn't seem like it'll make a huge difference in take home pay and will actually helped with taxes next year.

My understanding is that the national savings average does not include equity investments - only CD's and savings accounts.

    Am I wrong about this?

Also - there's a poll on this.... I'll bump it.

Wouldn't surprise me but you're probably right, about the savings average.

Thanks for bumping the other thread. That's mostly about complete savings, I'm more interested in 401(k) and threw the total savings rate in as a sidebar.

I do 6% right now and my employer does 3%. I have my wife doing 8% with her employer doing an additional 3% PLUS she does another 3% into her ESOP plan...lets her buy stock in the company for 15% under the current value, but you can't sell unless you've held it for 12 months.

    I do 5% right now wth a 5% match.

I get another 4% (no outlay from me) invested in a stable capital pension fund for me.

Before increasing what I put in my 401K any more I will max out a ROTH.

I got the pension also, but not really counting on it being there in the long run.

I'm assuming that's due to tax reasons. I guess it's a matter of choosing whether you pay taxes now, or pay later.

I do 6% currently and my company chips in another 3%. The wife does 6% with another 4% from her company.
