I'm concerened about our ability to put points on the board, period.

As I've said before, I don't have any irrational thing about Jake...I just think he's not great. I think he's a middle tier NFL QB. He's better than what we have now, but I'd say we wouldn't be much better right now with him in there...maybe have won one more game, maybe...he can't carry the whole team.

I don't think anyone has ever disputed the idea that we're better with Jake, but remember that our offense sucked balls against Houston with Jake at the helm, and only half of those 8 TDs were the culmination of sustained drives that began in our territory. The others were Steve Smith breaking a pass for a huge gain or a result of turnovers in enemy territory. That's still better than anything we've had since then, but it's disingenuous to pretend that we were just driving up and down the field before Jake's injury.

You argued that he was the reason receivers were dropping passes. I know, you're backing off a lot of the irrationality now, which is great, but it doesn't stop you from jumping people for no reason because they say positive things about Delhomme.

Nobody mentioned that at all. Certainly, the lack of sustained drives was a worry for me as well. I've noted before, when the 8 TD stat comes out, that it's not like Jake was putting up 300 yards. When we're just starting out, our playmaker and our QB combining for some plays is still not a bad thing. If we were just making something like that now, consistently, it'd be better than it is. It's not that what Jake was doing was outrageous, just that what we've had since then has been a big dropoff.

That's what you're implying when you talk about how many TDs we scored then and how few we've scored since.

Nope. It states we scored 8 passing TDs in 3 games and 4 in the weeks up until this one. That's all. Doesn't go into anything relating to TOP, first downs, total yards, anything related to longevity.

When you use a stat like that without establishing context, you're trying to give the impression that the offense was awesome before Jake got hurt.

No. Not at all. Just that we actually put up points and we had a QB that made some plays. Again, I stated many times in the past that while QB play wasn't a negative with Jake this year, we still didn't put up a bunch of yards. I stated it again directly above, if you want to reference it.

Plus, wasn't my post, it was meatpile's. Maybe you should tell him what he was thinking instead of telling me.
