Well, every mock under the sun has us taking Derrick Brown, with his massive four sacks in 2019.

I'd like to have McCoy back since he was one of the few players still trying at the end of the season.

Sacks don't tell the whole story there. Brown is legit, but if the Panthers do take him then one way to get him and Short on the field at the same time would be to use them as five techniques in a one gap 3-4. The problem is that our linebackers are more suitable for a two gap 3-4, so one way or the other there will need to be additional roster moves made to improve the run defense.

Brown is legit, but if I'm using a top 10 pick on a DT they better live in the backfield. Brown doesn't, and I think he will fall like Star did because of it. It wouldn't surprise me if Kinlaw is taken first.

Maybe, but I would be pretty surprised by that because Kinlaw is much more one-dimensional. He's strictly a 4-3 under who needs a strong nose next to him and an overall solid run defense around him because he's a gap shooter who loses leverage too often. I agree that he's a more explosive pass rusher than Brown, but his bust potential is pretty large whereas Brown is a safe 5+ year starter.

    edit:
Also, Brown actually had 6.5 more tackles for loss this past season than Kinlaw and only two fewer sacks. I would love to know the hurries numbers but I don't think anyone records those for college.

Regardless, I'll still be surprised if Brown goes in the top 10. But a lot of GMs make head-scratching decisions, so we'll see.

Herbert will likely be the 4th QB taken because some GM is going to fall in love with Jordan Love

I can see Carolina redshirting a QB while letting Cam play out his contract.

You don't think Cam will want to redo his contract before camp?
