    exerpt:

    c. The next Pope after John Paul II will take the name Pope Benedict XVI, in imitation of Saint Benedict and also of Pope Benedict XV. Just as Pope Benedict XV was an emissary of peace, so will Pope Benedict XVI be an emissary of peace. Just as Pope Benedict XV sought peace and spoke of peace and wrote papal documents seeking peace, so will Pope Benedict XVI do also. Just as Pope Benedict XV failed to achieve peace in the world, so will Pope Benedict XVI fail to achieve peace in the world. Just as the Pontificate of Benedict XV began prior to World War I, so will the Pontificate of Benedict XVI occur prior to World War III. After the Pontificate of Benedict XVI, World War III will begin. The Arab nations will threaten and attack the United States; they will threaten, attack, invade and conquer Europe; they will threaten, attack, invade and conquer the northern part of Africa. It is God's will.

I've been reading into this too Miss Muffy and so far, the predictions have been super freaky to say the least. I really wanted to ask about Tribulation and people's interpretations of it. I absolutely admit to being very curious, but a bit lost on this one and `A Dummies Guide' would be awesome for anyone who wishes to provide it :). I've been searching on the Internet - but I'm not sure if I'm reading it right and would value other's opinions on it.

The whole Russia thing involved with the 2nd one is very interesting as now there is quite a bit of speculation and some evidence that the assassination attempt was planned and requested by the KGB.

    Fatima Prophecies

On May 13, 1917 a luminous Apparition of the Virgin Mary appeared to three peasant children and delivered a prophecy that would change the world.

Trying to interpret the prophecies of the 'end times' books of the Bible (i.e. Revelation, Daniel, etc.) can get sketchy at best. Even Jesus kept knowledge of the end to Himself. Personally, I think the vagueness of end times prophecy is intentional, but that's a side issue.

I've studied it to some degree, but not to consider myself anything like an expert on the subject -- far from it. I did read the Left Behind series, and I'd say that until I read something different, Tim LaHaye's (the author) guesses in that series are probably as good as any. Sly may know more about this subject than I do. In fact, I'd be surprised if he didn't.

The "beginning of the end", so to speak, in the 'pre-Tribulation rapture' scenario (which makes sense to me, but again I'm not completely sold on) is an event called the rapture of the church. Basically the belief is that completely without warning, one day Jesus will instantaneously bring every one of His followers into heaven. Millions (I hope) of people all over the world will disappear in an instant. This event will begin a seven year countdown to Jesus' return to earth as Lord and King.

During these seven years, however, God will be pouring out terrible judgments on the earth and those who are left behind -- including, but not limited to, earthquakes, meteor showers, and plagues. This period of judgment, persecution and suffering is called the Tribulation.

Also very early into the Tribulation period, the antichrist will rise to power and eventually will rule the world. He'll divide the globe (or what's left of it) into ten different sections, and appoint governors over them. There will be one global currency, and all transactions will have to be sanctioned by the government. Basically, think of the ideal socialist state on a global scale.

The exception would be that at some point, the antichrist will name himself as the deity of this world, and will demand to be worshipped. Anyone who does not prove their loyalty and devotion to him will be executed.

At the end of the seven years, the Bible says Jesus will return in spectacular fashion. The antichrist will have amassed a great army, having taken control of the world's militaries, and will attack Jerusalem in an attempt to basically wipe it from the earth. Jesus will intervene and destroy that army. Then He will cast the antichrist, Satan, and the antichrist's chief spokesman (prophet) into some kind of spiritual prison for a long period of time. Later, they will be released and finally cast into hell.

    That's one interpretation, anyway. :wink2:
