I read yesterday where the second best HS QB in the Carolina's (from Aiken, SC I believe?) has verbally committed to Iowa after Leak opted for Florida.
I think it said he was 6'4 190 or so. What is the kids name again?

errr, eric mccollum is a 2 star prospect bear. usc never offered and i don't believe clemson did either. he's 6'0" about 180, very small. he has decent arm strenth and decent foot speed but nothing spectacular. he likes to roll out and throw on the run but can be a pocket passer too. i saw him play at the shrine bowl and realized very quickly why usc never offered.

for the record, syvelle newton is the #1 qb in south carolina. he has offers from usc, ucla, nebraska, clemson, and some others but those are his 4 finalists. he is a 4 star prospect and usc is his favorite right now. most recruiting services have him in their top 10 qb's nationally. if he signs w/the gamecocks, and i think he will, he will be usc's second 4 star qb signee. the other is blake mitchell, the #1 rated qb from georgia.

Everybody wants to play right away. Too much ESPN on the brain. "Sure kid...you'll come right in and start as a freshman, just sign right here". It has very little to do with which state you're from.

I thought the top 2 were Blake Mitchell (USC commit) and Syvelle Newton (USC lean). Maybe I'm wrong...but I doubt it.

syvelle is the top qb in the state. he is a rated a 4 star prospect by both rivals and theinsiders.

mitchell is also a 4 star prospect but he's from lagrange, georgia.

mccollum is the guy who commited to iowa. he is not a highly rated prospect because of what i said ealier his average arm strenth and the fact that he's only 6'0" tall. his stats are through the roof though and he was sc's "mr. football" so he's no slouch or anything. just w/the qb's we have committed and since we're going after syvelle newton so hard we really couldn't offer mccollum.
