The idea that the guards could fall farther then expected is legitimate. I would not have expected DeCastro to go 24th. A lot of teams still don't value guards that highly, but their pretty substantial rise in salary over the last few seasons shows that the perception is changing.

A lot has been made about the lack of first-round talent in the 2013 draft class. One general manager is rumored to have said there are only 10-15 picks that are legitimate first-rounders in a traditional year. WalterFootball.com reached out to sources, and they said the number was about 20 in their estimation. Here is a list of the positions and the amount of players at the position that were said to be first-rounders. The specific player is the guess of the author.

    One Quarterback - Geno Smith

Two Guards - Chance Warmack and Jonathan Cooper

Five Offensive tackles - Luke Joeckel, Eric Fisher, Lane Johnson, D.J. Fluker and Menelik Watson

Three Outside Linebackers - Alec Ogletree, Jarvis Jones, Barkevious Mingo

Three Defensive Ends - Dion Jordan, Ezekial Ansah, Tank Carradine

Three Defensive Tackles - Sharrif Floyd, Star Lotulelei, Sheldon Richardson

Three Wide Receivers - Tavon Austin, Cordarralle Patterson, DeAndre Hopkins, Justin Hunter.

    - I continue to hear the Oakland Raiders want to move from the third slot in the draft. The player everyone wants at that pick is Lane Johnson. Sources tell me there’s still a good chance Oakland flips with the Detroit Lions. The Arizona Cardinals have evidently entered the mix as a trade-up partner for Johnson, assuming the price is not outrageous.

    - I’m told the Raiders are unlikely to draft Shariff Floyd, even if they can’t move down from the third slot. As one source close to the situation told me earlier today, “the mock draft community is overrating Shariff Floyd”. Word is the Tennessee Titans at ten look like a good fit.

    - The player the Raiders really value is Star Lotulelei of Utah from what I’m told. The Philadelphia Eagles and Carolina Panthers also value Lotulelei. Carolina may try and move up if Lotulelei slides while it must noted the Eagles did give a nice free agent contract to Isaac Sopoaga during this off season.

    The anticipation is killing me.

Some may pretend to kick back and be all chill and shit, acting like cool hand luke and a veteran of a thousand wars, but I'm jacked up, and ready to watch this shit.

I got the pizza, the fucking Asheville brewed beer, shrapnel's mother retained on a 20 dollar bill, and the boys ready to light this shit up. I might fight tonight, I don't know.

Shit's gonna get crazy when it starts, I just know. Trades here and there, and I just know we're gonna get fucked out of the guy we covet somehow.

That being said, does anyone here have an opinion on Menelik Watson? I know very little about this guy, and shame on me for overlooking him, but I did. Any word? Is he being looked at so high because of the assumption the top tackles are going to be picked over in the top ten?

Yeah, and his physical gifts are incredible, but no one has any idea if he can play. Margus Hunt is a similar story on the defensive side of the ball. I think people have seen these non-football athletes be so successful at tight end and imagine them having similar success at other positions. Maybe they will and maybe they won't, but they scare me.

Person reporting team has an interest in Eifert. Do not want/need. What a waste that'd be.

That would scare me too. Intriguing, but I don't think that's going to be us...

Eifert? Not sure that would be a bad pick at all. Might be a fantastic one. We were more effective as an attacking 2 TE offense - but oh yeah - Shula's the OC, so nevermind.

Yeah, it'd be a waste. It really would.

Don't know if it's on TBR anywhere yet.. (I've been on the road all day) but suddenly all the talking heads are linking Eifert to the Panthers at #14
