I'm thinking OT is probably our biggest need. After Gettleman fiddled with Gross' contract it is unlikely he will be back after this season. There is currently nobody on the roster capable of playing LT. While going all defense in the first two rounds absolutely fills a need I think somehow not addressing our hole on the OL as irresponsible. And screw drafting a guard in round one

The problem is that no OTs are worth picking at #14.

A little different but i've been thinking alot about a Vaccaro, Kawaan Short combo with our first two picks.

I initially thought Vaccaro was a little high for 14 but im really starting to warm up to him. I think he'd be a nice guy to have with Keek in the backfield for years. He just always seems to be around the ball, always seems to be the guy taking guys down, running through guys. Gives us some versatility to have those 2 guys able to play all 3 downs and to help with some matchup issues. Add in Davis and a healthy Beason and I just cant help but feel pumped up about what could be.

OL might be a case of seeing what falls.

All top 5 guys could technically all be gone.

Just saw Cooper mention he has been a Panther fan since he has been a 6 year old, getting a starter jacket for X-mass.

Hard not to like that. He's actually a G that hits people on the move (re Amini)

You're right that no tackles are worthy of being taken at 14. Trading down is a possibility and I think one everyone would be okay with. So in the 2nd round you gotta start looking. At that point it's prolly project players or players with issues. Kyle long and Teron Armstead come to mind.

Thoughts on Sylvester Williams at 14? Seems to be gaining momentum

Menelik Watson might be there at #44, although someone will probably reach on him earlier than that. No thank you to Sylvester Williams at #14. Maybe it's my frustration as a Carolina fan but I'm not huge on him or Cooper. They're both solid players, but I don't remember seeing impact.

The more I see of him I think Star is being overated but he'll go before #14.. Floyd ok so he is a special talent I get that. Richardson is the #2 DT in this draft if not #1. He is an awesome talent and played his ass off last year. We can probably forget him, he is going before us. If not he's the pick. The top 3 OT will be long gone. Warmack probably gone. Jordan and Ansah gone. Millner and Tavon Austin I think also will be gone. So, do we take Rhodes, Jarvis Jones or Mingo? Doubtful.

In terms of need I think I'm preparing myself for DJ Fluker. Who knows but I have a feeling that happens. I would seriously consider moving down if possible.

I know I'll get arguements on Richardson but he does not move around like a dude 294. He's got some special qualities and I know he needs more strength but he's a pretty good risk IMO. He just blows up shit in the backfield on a regular basis. Also, his level on competition was strong. I'd pick he ass in a second but he won't make to us IMO.

I can see our picks as Flucker and then DT like Hankins, Short or Jenkins in round 2.

What makes you say this? When I watched Richardson I did see a guy with hustle who ended up around the ball, but I also saw a guy who got pushed backwards by good guards and who got to the quarterback more through OL slowness or mistakes than his own excellence. I really don't see a lot of talent there. He'd make this defense better, but he'll never make a Pro Bowl.

I agree. He plays like a much smaller player, maybe 270-280. That's good in terms of quickness but definitely not in terms of strength. He can't play alongside Dwan Edwards, unlike Lotulelei or Floyd. Richardson would be a nice 5 technique 3-4 DE, and he'll work as a 4-3 3 technique, but a bit of an undersized one.

Yeah, I do see what you are saying that he can get pushed around by the really big guys at times. And yes, he needs to get stronger no doubt. There is certainly an argument there. I do see a very talented player that gets pressure from the DT position and has a good motor. With what will be available to us...I'm still thinking a move down might make more sense. If they take Richardson I'm going to be ok with that.

Floyd played on a great defense and flashed at times but I think Richardson was more of an impact player on the field.

    Richardson was certainly more consistent.
