Agree. Whoever it is, if they can at least look good enough to make us think that we don't need another guy next year, hell yeah. A receiver, a DT, and a free agent corner would put us around 8-8 level.

BTW, Jon Jansen's supposed to be a free agent. I can't say he'll want to stay with Spurrier, but he might, of course - but I'd really have to push to get him here if possible.

Right now I still think an explosive WR might be the best bet outside of Manning or Leftwich...
If we could get (in order) a Rogers, Washington, Andre Johnson or Roy Williams this offense would look so much scarier. We need a playmaking receiver that can get deep!

WR is tough to pick that high especially with Wilfolk, Joseph, Woolfolk and others that should be up there. Tough decesions but I want a killer WR with speed.

Agree. I still think Williams will go first, Washington second based on their measurables but I do think that Rogers is probably the best of the three. IMO the toughest and scrappiest of the three, probably a little more sloppy of the three as far as routes though.

DT I could wait to the second on. The O needs more explosiveness, I'll just take a DT in the second right now that can be explosive in his first few steps and hold his gap.

Also, the silver lining would be if we did grab a Manning (who I agree with you, mvm, probably doesn't come out this yr) there should still be some good WR at the bottom of round 1 (for move up) or early second.

If the Panthers were to pick up a Manning and an Andre Johnson we would have our own triplets as long as Foster can stay healthy. With the improved defense and solid special teams we would be talking about a potent team much earlier than expected. I am EXTREMELY high on Andre Johnson ATP. He has great speed and very nice size. He is also a pro route runner right now. Outside of Rogers and Washington I believe he is at the top of a very tight list:

    1) Rogers - total package and a game breaker. Needs to get a bit thicker but sky is limit. Just seems more talented sometimes than anyone else on the field.
2a) Washington - a freak who at 6-4 231 running in the 4.3 or 4.4 range looks like a bigtime match up problem in the pros. Just beginning to scratch the surface of his talent.
2b) Andre Johnson - best route runner and true break away speed. Most fundentally sound as well but could still improve. Reminds me of Terrell Owens with his size and thinkness and might have better agility.
    3) Roy Williams - has great size and good speed but lacks extra gear in the open field and isn't as quick or explosive as some would have you believe. Disappears at times and can be controlled easier than he should be.
    Others:
    Lee Evans (5-11 195), Brandon Lloyd (6-1 190), Justin Gage (6-5 200), Teyo Johnson (6-7 255)TE?, Brenard Berrian (6-2 200)

We should be able to pick up a quality WR in the next draft and still fill another high need position as well.

yeah, during the offseason I felt like Dre Johnson would be there at the top of 2. I don't get that feeling now, he's top 15. Justin Gage wouldnt' be bad there but he's not the burner. THere's a kid out of Virginia who's good. Forget his name. Berrian is good but he's very raw right now as well.

I do feel like the top four are heads above, but yeah, we can get a receiverin the second that'll be a great improvement. Right now that's all we need.

Yeah, Evans is a good wildcard right now. His knee troubles should be behind him soon but they'll still dictate his future to him. Still he was probably the best receiver in the nation before the injury, even though he's not 6'10 and 240 (I really do like Teyo. I'm just picking on Evans for his lack of height, which 5'11 really is not bad).

every year someone says that and then every year we don't have that game breaking talent. And yet both Morgan and Peppers are becoming that, because we had those high picks.
Sure, it's probably better to get a receiver, a tackle, a guard and a fullback instead of a receiver, but who's better - Jerry Rice or Donald Hayes?

Here's one of the guys I watched live the other day - ESPY. The name just kinda caught. Wonder why? Not only that but his father was involved with one of the many Clinton scandals.

Anyway, last year at his pro day he ran a 4.37 without having hired a speed coach and with a year to mature. I don't know his eligibility but he was a redshirt 2000 I believe.

Tx A&M's Sammy Davis is turning out to be a very enticing cover two corner prospect. 6', 190, top notch change of direction skills, good instincts.

Not as huge of a prospect as Wolfolk or Weathersby but better in the space a C2 corner needs to work. Speed is good but not Will Allen fast.

There is little doubt to me who is zooming up of the list of future stud RBs. The next star is definately Willis MaGahee of Miami.

He has perfect measurables (6-1 225) and good speed and agility. He also runs with power and vision. I don't see any RB in the nation who is better as an upper classmen. Close underclassmen include: Greg Jones of Florida State - although he is not as elusive as you would like. Kevin Jones of Va Tech could also be a star in waiting as well. He has great speed and quickness on a big frame.

Overated: Cedric Benson Texas (lacks speed and isn't really that big either)

Miami may not go undefeated but the Canes talent level is heads and shoulders above anyone. Forget all the questions about the secondary - Miami is #1 and should repeat. To me Tennessee is #2 and better than Texas, so at least the Canes must earn it by going on the road and beating the best.

Also, like to add that to me Andre Johnson is as good or better than ANY of the other top WRs out there. He is so impressive with that size and fluidness. He seems to be a top competitor as well and just has exceptional hands and quickness. He is the absolute total package who is still getting better. He is an amazing prospect IMO and I wish our offense had him right now.

McGahee is certainly intriguing but after watching him I didn't get a feeling he was that much better than his backup. He'll get his chance, but he lacks the special something that Portis, Edge, even Jackson had. Johnson looked good but he doesn't take over a game the way Rogers does. Johnson also won't be making it over the top of the others on measurables, it's really a very tough receiver class to be the 3rd or 4th most talented guy.
