Washington will fit right in the NFL. He already has the ego.

Should we draft him, never fear for him wearing a Dee Coy jersey. He is much less subtle. He'll just question Fox's manhood and ask for Henning to be fired. That might not be such a bad thing. Hmmmm.

My big fear is that we pussyfoot around this year, both Fasani and Weinke do enough to get another look, and we draft Dorsey, and miss out on the best top heavy WR crop in recent memory. Fuck me.

Why EJ Henderson? I'm not saying take a guy like that off the board but it's highly unlikely we'd want another top ten linebacker. I also think that if his speed is around the 4.8 I've seen listed, he probably won't go that high. Linebackers that go that high are 4.6 guys, minimum, IMO.
He's a playmaker - I watched him live for about a half and I should probably be looking at clips more later - but he's pretty much a MLB. We've got that.

Gutter - I scout year round. For one thing, college football's starting.

Other than that, no, nothing's really change between the last time we talked draft and when Larry brought it up.

I'd seen Henderson with faster 40 times, 4.6 is with the idea of him as a OLB. Can't hurt to watch any of the top players.

If he's strictly MLB, and runs a 4.8, then no.

Ignoring Peete, we have a 1 yr QB and a rookie.... to suggest a QB as our first or 2nd pick would indicate 2-3 of the resident experts think we have nothing in house at that slot to bring this team along...

so whats up with the other thread.. :D

We don't need linebacking or Qb's. And it seems to me that taking a RB in the first is the most dangerous pick of all. I think the biggest weakness of the O is QB but you can't fix everything with the draft. Improve the WR core or the D-line.

I'm sure he'll come up with a time around that at the end of the year.
And he'd make an excellent strong-side linebacker, I guess, but the thing is I'd imagine that he's better off roaming the field than darting up it a la Fields.

He's no doubt the best linebacker in the draft right now. But unless he was an Arrington level playmaker, I don't think we can really afford to consider that. I'd probably be against going OT as well, since it'd mean a top ten pick for a right tackle. Luckily I don't see anyone being that high. I saw Huddle Report noting Kwamie Harris as a top ten rating, which was bizarre.

i dunno. with weinke/jeffers, i think the QB and WR positions have shown themselves to be areas of need for the future.

i'd love to draft a hot-dog passer and stud receiver next season and let those guys (and foster) rule the division for 5 years. :)

Apparently you don't pay a great deal of attention.

No, no one, other than Fox, has said Weinke is definately the future. Or Fasani. Definately not Peete, though he seems to be the immediate future. My big fear is that we may not be that closer to finding out with Weinke, and I don't think Fasani is near ready, and if thrown in, will not do anything to dissuade a top QB pick from coming in.

I think I've been fairly consistent on that in all threads.

Gutter, most of those guys are QBs and WR. With a few DTs, and a couple of other big names like Starks (OT) and Henderson (LB) thrown in for good measure. Just guys I could think of.

Nothing is settled at the quarterback position. Wide receiver was largely the greatest focus of the past threads (though Piper and I did talk line a lot - and with Jordan gone, Fletcher backing guard up it's probably best that we draft a quality player there but not that early) and even if Jeffers had made the squad I think it'd be safe to say WR was #1 or #2 on all lists.
