That could be true, I don't know. But the other question you may already have the answer to is - Is that 2nd best WR coming out better than what we have... or should I say, have the potential to be better? Can he elevate us at that spot? If he can then maybe even if his value is not as high as say the value of one of those top 3 QBs then it may be better to take the WR if he can immediately impact the position. Again, I'm still looking for the immediate impact player on offense since we don't have one. If you told me there was an offensive lineman that could block 2 players with his eyes closed, I'd say take him.

Can Williams or Johnson upgrade the position yes. So can Taylor Jacobs, IMO, in the second round. Actually, not sure hom much it would take to be better than Byrd or Smith.

Can both be better, two three years down the road, than Moose, and be a #1 reciever? Maybe.

Do I think either of them will have Peppers like impact in year one, as a #1 reciever. No.

Recievers usually take about a year to learn the system, particuarly as starters. That's why the biggest impact you see are from guys who are #3, like Stallworth.

The only guy I feel is most able to make an immediate impact as a #1 or #2 reciever is not likely to be their. If Charles Rodgers drops, I take a hard think about passing on Eli, Palmer, or Byron. If not, I take the QB.

if we pass on rodgers for anyone, we have some serious problems with talent evaluations

I’m afraid we are not going to get the opportunity to pass on Rogers.
Apparently Detroit is absolutely positively sold on Rogers and he is their man with that 3rd through 5th pick overall. Since I do not see us losing all 4 remaining games and the Lions have a tougher remaining schedule and one less win they will be picking before us. There is also the possibility of Houston snagging Rogers if they don’t stay in love with the thought of a big DT or Texas boy Williams. Either way we are not going to get Rogers.(

There is no way, no how, I'd be for bringing in Robert Edwards as an every down back to carry the mail for this offense. One season backing up Ricky Williams ain't enough proof on that reconstructed knee for me. The man shouldn't even be walking on it. It's a testament to his character that he's able to play football on it, but I won't believe he can be an every down back until I see it.

Yup, I forgot just how serious that knee job was . . . never mind.

BIG no on Edwards, unless the expectation is no more than 10 carries a game. Mack on the otherhand...that's one to consider. Fits the powerback mold very well and he isn't slow.
There is going to be a need to grab a FA and probably a mid round RB as insurance on Foster...Is Smith not coming back at all or are we all assuming this?

    McFly,

I’m the byotch who implied that Smith won’t be back but I don’t have anything other than a guess to back that up. Actually I would imagine that Lamar has a better chance of returning than Anderson does . . . however, that’s only an assumption as well. I would not mind at all if neither of them rejoined the team, and I wouldn’t miss Stevaphone either. I’m encouraged by the apparent hard-line that this staff is willing to draw. Maybe if the worst get weeded out the rest will be more likely to stay in line.
