if i'm not mistaken, the lead singer of big country died recently.

my faves from this list include

any of the violent femmes, the fixx( shuttered room and reach the beach), u2-war, prince-1999, inxs-shabooh shabaah, madness-7, the clash-combat rock, duran2-rio.

    smells like mtv.

and one of the best movies of all time has a couple of these tunes featured--

    Valley Girl.

that last shot panning up over la freeway at night, as nick cage and deborah soandso speed off and the track starts..

moving forward using all my breath......

the plimsouls in the bar singing a million miles away

pat travers in the background singing i la la la love you... as they cruise thru hollywood.

the prom band (can't think of the name) doing johnny, are you queer.

i always get a kick out of that movie.

I don't remember Dio being such a great Billboard success.

Ronnie James Dio would have been a huge success if it wasn't for MTV. He didn't quite have the look of a cool rockstar.

That is the playlist from just about any generic radio station anywhere in the country on any given day in the year 2002....I never looked at it that way...I got all choked up with nostalgia while reading it....I rember '83 like it were yesterday....Man....Good one LarryD.
