1-14 playoff

I was reading about the NBA flirting with the 1-16 un-conferenced playoff format. I like it, but I'd go 1-14, with the top two teams getting a bye and 3-12 playing a single game wildcard round. Seems to me this would be a great way to make the opening round of the postseason more compelling, while also making the regular season more important. You think star players are going to take nights off if a bye or a home court game is at stake?


Let me know what you think. I feel so good about this proposal, I've decided to share it in this forum that one other person posts in.

 

Before you ask, I think the short term revenue loss would be more than made up by an uptick in interest in the league. I don't think the NBA can sustain itself with an 82 game season with a two month long playoffs. I think they need to downsize first.
