I lean towards showcase vs legion.Let me tell you why my stand is what it is. We live is an area where legion wasn't a real option, like you do, and my son wanted to play beyond high school. There is no other option for exposure like showcase, so that's what he did. Also, if you go to another town and you're the "outside kid" you ain't going to get the best opportunities with legion.
I know there used to be a Palomino league based in Greensboro. Some of the kids from western Chatham County used to play there. I have no idea how competitive it is.
Bottom line is, if playing beyond high school is your son's goal, and if he's a junior, he has got to get somewhere that offers exposure. It's not too late but, ya'll need to get crackin'!
Talk with Scott Bankhead at the NC Baseball Academy. He is well connected in the Greensboro area and could give you some advice as well as evaluate your son. This could be helpful in figuring out which direction to go.

my son is 17 the catcher for rockingham county high school and lives in reidsville nc which is 25-30 miles north of greensboro and i need to know where he can play legion ball because there are no legion teams around here,any suggestions? fishman said i should talk to you
