Tom 'T.C.' Carey leaves WFNZ

Gary would basically rip TC every time he opened his mouth....TC would say the dumbest shit....and his favorite line was wouldn't it be funny if....

the show is better off without him...sorry but true...

 

I wondered how long it was going to take for this to happen.

I don't know how many of you heard this, but TC sort of went on a rant early in the show a week or two ago on the MSP. He had been out on a remote the day before at a wireless telephone store somewhere and a couple of the Panthers had been there too. One of the Panthers was Dan Morgan. TC said that Dan Morgan wouldn't even look in WFNZ's direction the whole time during the remote. He indicated that Morgan was not a fan of FNZ because of all the garbage he gets from the QCB and the Primetime show. When a player gets hurt, QCB says he's "Morganed", etc.

Anyway, TC went on to say that QCB was classless for continuing to do that junk and that it made him ashamed to be associated with FNZ sometimes. He went on to say that he didn't know why Packer allowed QCB to keep using the term "Morganed" and re-emphsized how classless it was. He said Primetime is Packer's show and he should do something about it.

I suspect that the clowns over at FNZ, partiularly those aligned with Packer got pissed off at TC's honest opinion and that was that. Packer and his guys are real good at dishing it out, but they get real thin skinned when criticism their way.

 

TC - Tom Carey. Maybe one of you guys know - but there was a guy named TC that was on a short lived sports station here in Greensboro when I moved back in 97 - is this the same guy?

If it is he was a really good guy - his daughter and my daughter were in the same first grade class if it's the guy I'm thinking of. Too bad he got run off but at least it's because he was standing up to the idiots he had to work with.

The Mayberry Mafia. How fucking stupid ar these two? Didn't Hayseed get in a car wreck a few years ago. Too bad it wasn't fatal, he's a waste of a human. Same goes for QCB. I turn the radio when those two get on the air.

 

Primetime is nothing better than Johnboy and Billy. Catering to the mindless rednecks. QCB and Hayseed offer absolutely nothing to the show. Charlotte needs a better option than this slapstick radio

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, I'm not sure . . . I remember WTCK (?) had a pretty good morning show back in the day and were early supporters of the Canes when they played in Greensboro . . . .

 

Budget kicks out `T.C.' at WFNZ

Carey did lifestyle banter on `Morning Sports Page'

Tom Carey, known as "T.C." to listeners of the "Morning Sports Page" on WFNZ-AM, got called into a meeting with his bosses after Monday's show.

"They fired me," says Carey, one of the longest-running voices on the sports station.

"They said it was solely for budget-cut reasons, that it was not personal and not job-related, just a budget issue," he says.

Carey was part of the team when WFNZ (610, 1660) launched the morning "Czaban Show" with Steve Czaban in 1999. That show was canceled after six weeks. Carey stayed on the morning shift when WFNZ launched "Morning Sports Page" a few weeks later.

He is in negotiations with the Infinity-owned station to settle his contract, which runs out in March 2005.

Carey, who is sleeping in these days after years of waking up at 4:45 a.m., was the lifestyle end of the show, leaving the hard-core sports commentary to partners Gary Williams and Jim Celania, who are still on the air.

"It was a fun job," Carey says. "I'm sorry it had to end, but stations go through these firing phases."

 

well dang I figured if anybody knew it would be you.

I think it's the same guy - He disappeared around here about the same time he joined WFNZ.
