At the end of last season when it became apparent the Rangers probably would not make the playoffs, they traded away a number of stars to ensure future success for the franchise. As a result, the Rangers were not expected to have a great deal of on-ice success this year. It seems much more than just a coincidence that the season has been all but cancelled. When people look at the Rangers, they are seeing the signature team that defines the NHL. Why would the NHL brass wasnt to be represented by a team in the midst of a rebuilding process? When the Rangers are having an off season, it dampens the image of the NHL as a whole. The NHL is letting out a sigh of relief as this season passes with Ranger prospects playing all over the world and growing into bonafide stars. I'm not saying the Rangers are the sole reason for the lockout, but it's obvious their potential lack of success this season was a major factor when Bettman and the owners decided to lock the players out.

The Rangers ARE one of the reasons for the lockout, but not because they're in a re-building process. They went and out bid many teams to get 'stars' to fill their roster regardless of cost. Sakic is a prime example of this. Luckily for him, he didn't sign with them and the Avs matched the Rangers bid. The NHL is not Rangercentric. They were not the only team to have undergone a rebuilding process... there are others and the season did go on.

    What, ME worry?

I'm not worried about him. Typical delusional, out of touch, ignorant rag$ fan. Dime a dozen.
    Like the rest of 'em.
"Same as it ever was.......Same as it ever was"......

JrMonarchs AAA, I'm suprised at you. You have too much hockey sense to be a rag$ fan.
You see who you're partnered up with.
Good time to get away from the dark side.
Yes, with their stupid, overbloated, insipid FA signings, they are a major reason for this lockout.

Like I NEED another reason to hate them.

    FUCK the rag$.

Can't help it man.... been a fan for a long time. Steve Vickers was friggin awesome. It's been a hard road to stay a fan, but hopefully, someone in the front office will wake up and find that money can't buy a cup.

Isles fans are worse. The 80's was a tough time to be a Ranger fan. JP Parise... I'm STILL wondering how he scored that goal.
