Reading in this week's Creative Loafing, MEDIA writer Shannon Reichley commented about the Bobcats free-TV deal with UPN46 (how thought it will air on WJZY, it will technically be a C-SET production). It mentioned how the production team is being hired now (the director has already been chosen) and commented that concerning the team's radio broadcast [adlib] 'it will be a familiar voice to many here'. Hmmmmmmmmmm :) . . .

GERRYV: Nawwww, he ain't coming home. The Hornets recently switch their radio contract to a Nola sportstalk station (WOTA ? ? ? ). GerryV finally gets his own M-F radio show again starting at the end of this month. I was looking forward to GerryV/Packman egos clashing at 1520 South Blvd., Suite 300 :D :D . . . Oh well :( :( . . .

DAVE JAGLAR (JAGS): I think he pinch hits on the Celtics radio broadcasts here and there on WWZN in Bahston. Maybe he comes back to Charlotte to become the Voice of the Bobcats :D :D **

**-Dave Jaglar was WFNZ's original 'Sportsflash' guy back in the late 1990's. He also cohosted the Morning Sports Page in its early days w/TC & Gary Williams and called Knights & 49ers games also

JOHN METAPERREL (FLASHBOY): He was PRIMETIME's original 'Sportsflash' guy (much better than the QCB). His dad got sick a few years ago and he ended up moving back to Bahston to work at WEEI on their AM Drivetime Show (Dennis & Callahan). He worked on Knights-49ers games with Jags for a little while I think. Not sure if he still does commentary on MLS Revolution games on FOX SPORTS-NEW ENGLANG or not (his bio page on WEEI still says he does) . . . . .

STEVE MARTIN: He commuted between Charlotte & Nola to do the Hornets games & ACC hoops/football games the last couple of years. I wonder how many frequent flyer miles he has racked up :D :D ? ? ? ?

MY PREDICTION: Its probably Steve Martin who has gotten the nod. It would be cool though if Jags and/or Flashboy did comeback to Charlotte to work on the Bobcats radio/TV team though, wouldn't you agree :) ? ? ? ?

23 posts, the last being October 17, 2003 hardly qualifies as being a poster, perhaps a poster child though.

I heard FNZ is poised to be the flagship for the Bobcats?! Unless Bob Johnson buys this battery powered station why would they make this small station their flagship one where only a handful of people can hear it after 6pm?

Good prediction, SDS. From a very good source, look for Steve Martin to make a regular return to the radio airwaves. Haven't heard anything on color for radio but a certain HOF'er from Gastonia may have the analyst gig on the TV package.
