Old ACC games from back in the 1960's-1982 when RAYCOM took over the contract . . . These games (I guess C.D. Chesley produced them 'back in the day') must be in a vault somewhere . . . Showing old regular season & tournement games would be cool a la ESPN Classic :) . . . I just watched a tribute to Norm Sloan during the ACC Tournement and watching those old grainy color film from an old ACC Tourney game back in the 1970's made me think about this :) . .

SDS, I'd love for this to happen, too, but most of the Chesley catalogue of games was lost many years ago in a warehouse fire. Packman claims to own the only complete version of the NCSU/MD '74 tourney classic. Raycom and JP have the full regulation game but the OT is a camera master from the baseline only. The Carolina 8 points in 17 seconds comeback vs Duke is only on team game films and not the broadcast.

There have been a ton of classic games since '82 when Raycom and JP took over the ACC regional broadcasts. Who knows if some of them may show up some day on C-SET. Some of us can hope.

PS. Lance Stewart at JP put together the Sloan tribute. Lance is the man.

That stinks :( :( . . . When did the fire take place? Old games like those are gold today . . I guess the only option is to see if one of the major networks still has these games**

**Like today, some local Raycom/JP games are covered nationally by CBS/ABC/NBC; Perhaps the major networks has this on tape . . .

What were games recorded on back then, film or tape? Any slight possiblity that a local station might have it in a closet somewhere?

A ton of the NCSU '74 footage you see is from network games. There are bits and pieces of games and complete games floating around at networks and local stations. Some of the footage Raycom/JP uses has come from sources that you mention like local stations. Just last year a film of some of the '54 ACC tourney and an NC State Highlight film turned up in a long forgotten box. The film was restored and numerous archive copies were made in various formats. You're right. It is gold.

As for formats, they were numerous. Old 2 inch and 1 inch tape, 8 & 16mm, kinescopes, etc. Some has video only with audio recorded o
