    XP Rocks.
Longhorn is a long way out. Why do people get all excited about pre-beta products, ignoring the value today? And when it ships they'll be the same people that say "I won't install until SP1".

I`m in the process of ordering parts for my first box build right now. I can`t wait to use something faster than my PII with 98 running.

LH has been pushed back to 2005 I think. There are plenty of LH builds out there with 4051 being the newest. 4051 still has a bad memory leak but there is a fix for it.

    Unfortunately, I don`t. :worried:
I just drop $250 to newegg for Chieftec case with ps, nforce2 ultra mobo, amd 2500 w/barton core. I bought 4 vantec stealth fans off ebay for $34 shipped.
Other goodies will wait till more moola.

I loaded XP pro on one of my machines just to check it out. I've got to say; I like W2k much better. It could be a familiarity thing though I don't think so.

it is a familiarity thing. XP rocks - stability, compatibility, speed, features, and even just plain installation. Use it for a while, you'll be a convert. Win2k rocks too, but WinXP rocks so much harder.

    Sho' nuf.

And XP runs just fine on my 5-year-old, 400 MHz, HP Pavilion. I've bumped the memory a couple of times, but it still runs better than when I had either Win98 or Win2000 on it.
