Oh I believe it. Not only do we get confused with UNC-CH on a regular basis, there are just some complete idiots out there in the world.

There's a letter on the wall in the athletic department addressed to...

    Julius Peppers
    c/o UNC Football Program
    9201 University City Blvd.
    Charlotte, NC 28223

And people wonder why we want the name of the school changed...

Dude, that letter is scary. I asked Peppers about it when I rang up his car once and he said that he gets all sorts of weird requests.

I still call bullshit on that story - basically it's a matter of time. I'll post my whole thinking tomorrow.

OK, here is why I think that it is bullshit. The timing does not work.

If this lady is driving in to see ner nephew, right? And she is 2 hours away from where he is playing right before gametime? The timing just doesn't add up unless her brother or sister (the nephew's parent) does not know the difference between Charlotte and Chapel Hill, which I find highly unlikely.

There are a bunch of other little clues that if you read enough Urban Legends pop out at you. The specificness of exactly where the person was going to eat, the exact intersection. Also, do you notice that the only time that UNC-CH is mentioned is when the UNCC student mentions it - the lady thinks it's Carolina.

I could really care less whether or not you change your name - as long as you don't take that stupid advice about naming it after the founder. As I personally have said, it all seems much ado about nothing to me, but if y'all feel a personal need to tilt this windmill, have at it.

I worked at Campus Sports while an undergrad at Charlotte many moons ago (last year). People came in very often from out of town looking for "Carolina". They would often ask "I thought they were blue?". I actually enjoyed telling them that they were two hours off. Most of these people were not in town to see the University, but figured while they were in Charlotte they'd go check out "Carolina". The confusion is much greater than many think.

I don't doubt that there is confusion, I am simply calling bullshit on that one story.
