yeah but it'll be more like a 50-150 zoom usually the base focal length on a digital is the normal lense for the format.

This was taken from about 12', with my brand spankin' new Samsung 2.0 mega pixels digital zoom multi-language Digimax 201 camera...not bad pic details.
[You can say rechargeable batteries again, dig-it. This thing eats power like candy. Thanks]

You can get Al MH batteries cheap, they only problem is the deep cycle and take a long time to recharge. They last a long time though, I've flashed my big flash over 100 times and haven't killed the batteries yet. I got 8 AA batteries and a charger for 20 bucks over the internet.

I got a recharger at Radio Shack on sale for $7.99; damn batteries cost $10.49(2 AAAs). It'll handle AA, AAA & 9V; it's an overnight charger.
I could not believe the cost of rechargeable batteries.

You got the batteries at the wrong place. You can get 4 AA nimh batteries at wal mart for under 10 bux, usually 6.99. Those are rated 1800mah. AAA I've seen for around 10 at wal mart.
