I wish we could put an ad in the Observer for hoop tix as nice as Chapel Hill's today. Take a look at their ad and compare it to our sorry ad that runs about once a week:rolleyes: . UNC's ad is what an ad should look like. Is it not painfully obvious how we fail to sell our team locally?

It took me awhile to open the sportspage........I had to stop laughing at the NC State/ECU photo in the bobcats ad on the back of the section. Sure, DT was a fine, fine player, but the "tighty whitys" on the players and the attempt to associate the "David Thompson era" with the bobcats was a little more than I could handle with my Cheerios.

Anyway, back to your point..........yes, I have to agree. And it is yet one more reason why I don't believe 49ers football will ever become a viable option. To do things like this (advertising, that is) you have to have $$$$$. In other words, it takes money to make money.

This is just more proof that we don't have the money to generate more money for basketball. Where the hell are we ever going to find it for football (except for maybe at the expense of the rest of the athletic department).

After all, if I was to take the bobcats ad to heart, the Carolinas are all about their basketball history and tradition.

PS- Sorry for bringing 49ers football again and also........yes, I purposely spelled bobcats with a small "b".

I wonder if they'll use Cornbread and our final four run in one of their ads. Hey, maybe we should do that.

From what I read last week, Cornbread is part of their ad campaign.

Metro, do you know how much advertising in the Obsever cost. That ad you saw costs at least 5 grand for placement and at least a few hundred to produce. Charlotte just does not have the money to compete with Crappy Hill and the sooner you understand that the sooner you will stop writing posts that make you sound jealous of a team we as Charlotte 49er fans have nothing to worry about. The last two years Charlotte is a respectable 31-28 while the Tarholes are 25-36 with much better talent.

I'm quite aware of the costs of the ad. I ran my own biz for a while and purchased advertising for it. We run ads all the time 1/4 the size and it looks like its done on Wordperfect. I would rather us run higher quality and less quantity.

Advertising in the Observer has nothing to do with winning ballgames. We need to worry about whats happens on the court not how much the athletic department is spending on advertising. I like our chances this year, C-USA is down a bit and I feel like our chances of getting deep into the NCAA tourney is legit.

How do you define "deep into the tourney?"
