one great potential item for going to the A10, is that it takes all the pressure off the athletic program to start a major D1 football team. If we are in a all hoops league, we will have the luxary of starting a small football program, similar to what Coastal Carolina just did. The whole CUSA/D1 football dilema is gone and we can play at the Belk track in a local football conference. I think the proper way to start football is to start small. Going the UAB and USF route is too risky financially.

I wonder if the Southern Conference would allow us to join for football only.

    Furman 3 1 0 117 52 .750
    Wofford 3 1 0 83 79 .750
    Western Carolina 3 2 0 124 130 .600
    Georgia Southern 2 2 0 98 57 .500
    The Citadel 2 3 0 116 161 .400
    Elon 2 3 0 63 93 .400
    East Tennessee State 2 3 0 100 77 .400
    Appalachian State 1 3 0 69 120 .250

East Tennessee State is dropping football but the Big South would jump at it I think. (Hey, it's a place to start a program.)

    Gardner Webb - 3 wins, 2 losses
    Virginia Military - 3 wins, 2 losses
    Coastal Carolina - 2 wins, 2 losses
    Charleston Southern - 1 win, 4 losses
    Liberty - 1 win, 4 losses

I agree with you metro. Do you know the cost to start a program such as Coastal's?

yes, I'll agree that being in the A10 INCREASES the chances of football......and that the ONLY way we will start football in to start small.

I am not close enough to the Athletic Department to prove this but IMO we are not stable enough financially to add football.

Before I support (or talk positive about) football, I would like to see some indication of financial support.

I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong........but I was led to believe that the addition off of Halton Arena was named after two sisters in the Belk family. Assuming that is true, simple deductive logic says that if wasn't for the Belk family, we wouldn't have the facility.

Don't tell how to do it, tell me who's going to pony up the cash ????

:) :) How 'bout Lance snackfoods? That way, Niner football players could have "Lance in their pants". :):)
