moose did run great routes and had separation many times. the one drop that was a deep-beauty by delhomme i'll let slip- if you look at the replay, buchanan clubbed his arm as he was trying to grab it. the dropped TD was pathetic. on an unrelated note, i really like jermaine wiggins.

He was chasing Crumpler, and on the play you're probably referring to, he made the tackle. Not Peppers. He out hustled the rest of the defense to save a TD, when it was Favors' coverage responsibility. And had a damn good game, just like last week. He makes plenty of hits, and laid out Key last week notably.

    Game balls - O
Normally they give a game ball to one player each. I list four.

Delhomme, Davis, the OL earned theirs.

    D

Reggie - only one tackle (meaning he was covering his man, even though no one else the Falcs has is worth a damn) and two defended passes. PD is a huge stat IMO and where Howard's lacked, but he's coming around some.

Deon - no big plays given up, and a couple more big hits. Quick defending the run. No PD, but the Falcs never passed deep anyway, and he gets credit for that.

Ruck - got the stats despite being subbed out a lot. Still got held a lot.
Jenx - made it happen. Two holding penalties drawn, and a ton more uncalled. Beat some doubleteams on sheer power, forced a number of pressures - those aren't listed in the gamebook but I counted 3

ST - the two kickers were again the class of the team. Kasay had deep kickoffs, is still perfect for 2003, and Todd averaged almost 50 and pinned 2 inside the 20 despite the other two being touchbacks. I think it's cool that we simply had gotten far enough on O to punt to the EZ twice.

Hs their been a bigger FA bust so far than Price?

Deon had a nice game. We had a couple of coverage sacks to go with the normal snowplowing, which was nice to see.

Agree that Jenks, and Peppers, and Rucker, showed a lot of motor, even though Rucker's only really show up on the stat sheet. Pep had several hits on Johnson, ran Danzler down for a loss, and hustled to the other end of the field to make tackles. Jenks is just a man. I want to see the five year contract signed yesterday.

But those guys have gameballs, and Al Wallace played pretty damn well himself for a backup.

Wallace just impresses the hell out of me. He makes the most out of every rep he gets. This D has one thing it has always lacked and that is the presence of role players like Wallace.
Just think how much better we could be if Morgan didn't have Biakabutkitis and Feilds was healthy...yet, look where they are!

Price isn't Harrison. He was being paid like it, and was expected to be it.
It's hard to say what Price would be doing with Vick, but Price had one good year, with Josh Reed and Moulds, who's much better than Price. People in Buffalo were saying Reed's better than Price, which he doesn't look exceptional right now but Price was so up and down - at UT and in Buffalo - that he's just never going to be anybody's #1. He's no Alvin Harper, but he's doing his best to try at it.

Agree. Wallace as a backup is unreal. More pressures than all but Ruck and Jenx - and Ruck's numbers were freaking unreal there. Best rushing season for a Panther ever. He had three pressures every game. Crap. But Wallace off the bench, great stuff. Gotta find a way to keep Wallace around too, I hope, but yes, Jenx needs to have a bigger check in the mail next week. Find a way. Don't lose him.

Give the whole damn team (especially the O-line) game balls for playing disciplined football. This from Game Notes from ESPN.com

    >>>"Carolina LB Dan Morgan missed his second consecutive game with a pulled hamstring, the 15th game he has sat out in two-plus seasons because of injury. ... Will Witherspoon started at middle linebacker and recorded the first of Carolina's six sacks. ... The Falcons continued to struggle with third-down efficiency, converting just two of 12. ... Atlanta had nine penalties for 84 yards. ... The Falcons failed to sack Delhomme."<<<<

By my math Morgan only actually plays a little over half the time and when he does he hasn’t played like the 11th pick overall. With the AP taking a jab at Moose today and the above on Morgan it looks like we aren’t the only ones expecting those two to turn it up a notch this year.
BTW - We only had 4 penalties for 40 yards and our 3rd down efficiency was a much-improved 8 for 17.:D
