    Just heard on the FNZ SPORTSFLASH that Jim Phillips died today while in surgery . . . He was 69 . . . Trying to find more info now . . . . .

    Class act, if we all had somebody like him calling all our teams games, then I think the sports world would be a lot better than it is now.

    The man had nothing but passion for the games and his Tigers.

    they're having all these people come on to talk about him on the sportstalk stations in columbia today. he sounds like he was a great guy.

    it's been a sad few days in south carolina with the loss of sc legend sarge frye and now jim phillips.

    Who would be left now in the "old-school" broadcasters of their favorite college teams.

    Larry Munson - Georgia
    John Ward - Tennessee
    Gene Deckerhoff - Florida State
    Tony Roberts - Notre Dame
