I just turned on the DAN PATRICK show on ESPNRADIO and he was pitching a fit because another sportstalk radio jock had announced on the air the name of the victim in the Kobe Bryant rape case . . . Any idea who did it (Jim Rome? Someone from FOX SPORTS or SPORTING NEWS RADIO? A local host)? I thought in cases where unless the victim was a minor, the name really couldn't be withheld form the press  ? ? ?

Dan Patrick can be an arrogant prick and get on his high horse way too much.

that's what I'm saying :) . . . The press is bending over backwards not to reveal her name where, unless Colorado law prevents it, her name can be announced by any media outlet at anytime. Wasn't Mike Tyson's rape victim common knowledge right after it happened several years ago ? ? ?

I've heard of that being applied to a suspect but not the accuser.

Meanwhile Tom Leykis, host of a radio talk-show based in Los Angeles and aimed mostly at young men, began using her name on the air and told Reuters that he has no plans to stop.

"We're told that rape is violence, not sex, and if that's true there's no reason she should feel shame or embarrassment," Leykis said, adding that he felt it unfair to name Bryant but not his accuser.

The talk-show host, who is heard on 60 stations across the country, also said he did not believe the woman's claims. He said he believes the woman was seeking attention and money and that Bryant could be the "real victim" in the case.

Saunders said Leykis' reasoning about rape and disclosure was a "distortion" because rape victims were often stigmatized by society.
