coach Nick was the so called reason that Iti came. He can still get a release and go elsewhere without penalty. Hopefully Lutz has formed a good enough relationship with him by now and he feels like a 49er.

I doubt he'd go at this point metro. And while we might grant him a release, there aren't so many schools that might have a scholarship open, except for those who may be still trying to get a player qualified for admission.

I agree HP that he "probably" won't go, but now that Nick is gone, the tie is somewhat severed with Iti and Charlotte. when you are a 18 year old kid, and you trust someone, and then they leave, you do silly irrational things. Hopefully Iti doesn't do anything crazy now that Nick is gone.

Judging from interviews and such, Iti seems to have a pretty good head on his shoulders. I think he genuinely likes it here. Not to say this same scenario didn't initially cross my mind when I heard the news about Nickelberry.

Will he leave before the coming season ??? No.

However, if that "relationship" hasn't been created yet, they better make it a priority.

If Iti is half the player that he's expected to be, the lack of the "relationship" could convince him to leave sooner rather than later (for the NBA, that is).

First of all, Iti haS NOT EVEN PLAYED A GAME YET, SO LETS JUST SEE HOW GOOD HE REALLY IS........

Second, even if he is good, he has limited offensive skills and is not projected to be in next years draft........

He may be fine, but lets just see whay he has

Totally agree that there is a long way to go before he is worthy of NBA consideration.

However, given the assumption that Nickleberry was key to getting him here, someone better step up and assume that role, from Iti's perspective.

My biggest concern is that IF that time comes, he doesn't think twice about leaving because no one assumed the "relationship" role that Nickleberry played.

Shouldn't be a problem for the staff to overcome but given the current sports climate.........stranger things have happened.

I don't see him transferring. When the recruiting gurus asked him last summer "why Charlotte" and he replied with "why not"? He knows he doesn't have competition at this school. Clemmons? Please. Spooner? Please.

I have a sneaky feeling our coaching staff is aware of the relationship.

No. He's not going anywhere. And, he can NOT get released without having to sit a year.
    Does that help?
