Yeah, but if Davis was going to sign for what we're offering, he'd have done so by now. I'd be worried about Davis losing interest in us.

He's gonna play somewhere. I think he wants to come home and he isn't gonna find a better fit ($$ not included) than here. He had expectation and is willing to play the market a bit to sweeten his deal. Who can blame the guy.

I don't agree that he'll just default back to Carolina.

Yeah, but I'm not. I will concede that he's the best available but I swear I'm just not sold on Davis as a long term solution. I'd almost rather have Emmit for a year or two and look again next year.

Thats a position I can live with, and I'll bet that is the "back up" plan. (no pun intended, but still pretty funny)

Planned obscolensence? Hell, we're going on the assumption that Emmitt's worth a year or two, aren't we? I'm not.
Davis will probably be worth a few years. We need to draft a good backup to him in a year or two. That's a good sound plan.

If not, we need to give a younger guy a chance, like Mack or Bryson. Not older.

"I would get it done today, tomorrow, as soon as possible so I could get in and start working out," Mack told the media. "I'd love to come in here and run the ball for the Texans." "I definitely want to find somewhere where I can carry the ball 20-25 times a game," he explained. " I do want to be that feature back.

Uh, not so much. Davis gets you 3 years, TOPS. The guy has taken a royal beating throughout his career. He has already lost a step speed wise. His injuries pile up every year. If he signs, he certainly helps us out this year. Anything past that is just gravy. I would almost rather us go after Mack. His long term upside combined with how much cheaper he should be makes him more attractive than Davis to me.
