Morgan has done a fair job to fill some obvious holes on the defense, almost to the point where we take BPA.

I am more and more looking for someone to jump in front of the Saints for the 8th pick. OT, or QB is the obvious targets for someone moving up.

Love to move down to the 14-18 slot, picking up another pick or two in 2nd and 3rd and pick from:

    EDGE Walker, Williams, Green, Pearce
    TE Loveland
    WR Golden, Tmac
    DT Grant
    S Starks

I did some analysis on that, and here's a largely copied/pasted version of it.

There are three really good Offensive Tackle prospects in the draft--Will Campbell, Armand Membou, and Kelvin Banks. One of them may go before we pick. There are also ten teams that need help on the line: Arizona, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles (Rams), Las Vegas, Miami, New York (Giants), New York (Jets), Seattle, and San Francisco. Those are the logical trade targets here.

First off, we can forget about the Raiders, Jets, and Giants. If they want a tackle, they will just take one before we pick and be done with it. The Texans, Chiefs, and Rams are out as well, given that they would pretty much need to send us their entire draft to move up to eight. That leaves the Cardinals, Dolphins, Seahawks, and 49ers as the most likely trade partners. Note that in this exercise I didn't bother thinking about future picks.

Arizona has the 16th pick, and while they have needs across their defense, they also need help on the offensive line (Guard more than Tackle, but both are needs). If they gave us their 16th pick for our 8th, then they would need to come up with 101 points of draft value to make it worth our while. Their second round pick is worth 124 points, and they could package that with their 7th rounder (worth 3 points) and send that to us for our first rounder and our second fifth rounder, which is worth 28 points. That's 432 points of value on their side, and 434 on ours. Yes, we are on the losing side here but we are basically turning the 114th pick into the 47th and gaining an additional 7th rounder. If they want to trade, that's an attractive offer for them.

Miami's most pressing offensive need is also at Guard (they miss Robert Hunt bad) but they need a Tackle as well. They could send us picks 13 and 48, worth 457 points, and we would give them 8, 114, 146, and 163, also worth 457 points. The challenge there is that we will go from nine picks to seven, so even though the points match up I doubt Morgan will pull that trigger.

Seattle is intriguing because the numbers work well for us, but like the Dolphins and Cardinals their biggest need is at Guard. They have the 18th pick, and could put that together with picks 50 and 223 in a bid to trade for 8th overall. Their haul is worth 405 points, our pick is worth 406, so that's pretty close. It would get us a couple of extra picks, which is awesome, but they need depth too so I don't think that they would be interested in gutting their draft just to move up in the first.

My favorite is San Fran. It doesn't get us a second rounder, but they have the 11th pick, and with their third rounder (63rd) that would be 421 points worth of picks. We could give them eight and 140, which is worth 15 points, to make the trade even. We only slide down three spots, they get the offensive lineman they want, and we convert a fifth rounder to a third. What's not to love about that?

Chicago is a potential fifth team, although they have bigger needs than a Tackle. A trade with them would be enough to turn our fourth round pick at 111 into a third round pick at 72. So it's similar to San Francisco and probably wouldn't change who we pick in the first.

So those are five realistic trade scenarios. Pick the one you like and send it to Dan.

My initial thoughts was to trade with Chicago and switch 2nd round spots, 41 for 57

This drops us only 2 spots and can still put us in play for many of the guys mentioned earlier.

and I like the SF scenario also.

We need depth for sure, starters and depth. If we are looking for a starter in the 1st as we should, then players like Warren at 10 or 11 would work, one of the special edge guys could see playing time also. Heck, Walters Football had Graham dropping to #12 in their latest. Would it be great to get Graham at 10 or 11 plus the extra ammo from trade down?

Anyway, lots of this to sort for the next month.

This is from the Rich Hill draft value chart.
    • Pick 8 is worth 406 points
    • Pick 10 is worth 369 points
    • Pick 41 is worth 146 points
    • Pick 57 is worth 96 points
So, if you want to swap their second rounder with ours, we need 50 draft points. To swap firsts, they need 38 points. So that's a discrepancy of 12 points. Now, if Chicago was that interested to trade up they might leave those on the table, but I bet they would want at least pick 163 from us, which is worth 10 points.

I am reading some stuff now about Sanders being underwhelming this past Friday at his pro day.

Don't think he goes now until maybe New Orleans at 9, or, drops even further.

Jaxson Dart might end up being the 2nd QB taken

I guess Stewart would be the best run stuffer out of the trio, but very difficult to overlook Ezeiruaku's sack numbers. His moves against the OL are elite looking. Still on the smaller side to be a consistent run stopper.

Unless Graham is there, I am full on for trade down
