This board has cracked on Peter King, and for good reason. But I think it's especially funny how little girl he's become toward the Panthers. King went from optimism as his vanity pick of the Panthers in '09 to practically zero mention the last two years. It means nothing as King has diluted his value as a commentator with his rambling Monday Morning Quarterback, but I still think it's funny.

And King is indicative of mainstream media. Why spend time on a team you consider a loser? Unless it's to take pot-shots at?

Even Rivera has hinted that he wasn't quite ready for an HC job. Plus he had a pretty impressive record of failed job interviews before getting this one. I think that some of the shit Fox got teased for - like the sideline preening and the clandestine pressers - is actually pretty important for that role. You want your head coach to be the alpha male. Force of personality is valuable for leading men. Rivera sort of just fades into the background like Dom Capers.

I really don't mind getting ignored, especially when we're fucking shitty.

I think there was some bitchiness about Cam not talking to him about the "athlete and entertainer" comments.

EDIT: Here we are... https://twitter.com/SI_PeterKing/statuses/97828878843772930 tweeted this during TC Cam's rookie year. Hell hath no fury like a fat latte loving fuck with credentials scorned

And it's not just MMQB, look at his appearances on NBC's pregame highlight package/awful Dan Patrick stand up act all he does is repeat the same shit they say in post game press conferences but attributes it to his sources.

I get what you're saying, but that's a separate issue from whether WR is deep or a need for this team right now. Moreover, WR is one of the worst things to pick in a draft because it has such a high failure rate for every team. The Panthers were worse than most at drafting them, though.

You mention how many draft picks Hurney burned on WRs and then you're complaining that they didn't use more. That's why your argument on wide receiver has never made any sense whatsoever. Plus, Steve's replacement doesn't necessarily have to come from the draft.

That depends a lot on the scheme. Most passing offenses don't involve a lot of option routes. I don't think it really takes much intelligence even for the ones that do.

It does seem like a vendetta. That being said, it's almost crazy that Newton wouldn't talk to King back when he was doing his stupid little camp tour. If you want to be the face of the franchise, you talk to the well known media correspondents when they come to do pieces on your fucking team.

All of this just reinforces my fears that Cam is a social fuck up who will never be able to lead this team to where it needs to go.

Yeah but it's all perception if Brady/Manning does this King writes a paean about how their laser like focus on the game and how they don't even have the time to interview.

I'll expand on the above a little further- Cam may not ever be a great leader, but the press and players give you credit when you win games. People loved Philip Rivers and the guy is clearly an asshole. Favre from about 2003 on was him being a fucking douchebag and at his peak he was a pill popper and PK was defending him to the very end. Win games and the suck ups will be there.

Well true, but they haven't done that. That's the thing. Or if they have, they have a long list of interviews they did show up to. And they don't sulk like bitches after games.

Of course, some would say Manning does from time to time.

Indulging in another cliché, Favre & Rivers are maniacal in their desire to win games. Even if they're dicks, teammates like them because they recognize that those guys want to win more than anything else. Fair or not, people wonder about Cam and I'm guessing his teammates do too. I think Newton views his sulking act as a way to show people he cares about winning, but what he should be doing is getting angry and using that as fuel to work on his craft. It would be great to see Newton respond to adversity by wanting to kick his opponent's ass instead of pouting.
