Smart move by Hurney. Getting something for an inderachieving, injury plagued guy in the last year of his contract.

 

Joe Person reports (tweets) Panthers got a 7th for Otah. So we get Murphy for Otah essentially

I didn't really want Reiff at 9, and am in retrospect a little happier we went the way we did, but definitely would've wanted a better change at RT than just bringing in Bruce Campbell and maybe returning Garry fucking Williams. I'm glad we cut bait, but I'm not thrilled at RT on what should otherwise be a pretty good line again.

 

How does shipping Otah to New York effect the Panthers cap?

 

minus his salary, no proration since he was in his final year. Then add Murphy's salary, which was somehow a couple hundred more. Must've been RFA.

 

He had to pass a physical to be traded, right?

I mean, I think he's a big fucking lazy pussy but if he was healthy I'd have rather kept him one last year over a 7th.

edit: I guess maybe we could get a better return, didn't see "conditional".

they need to go back to the drawing board on that one - there's only one way they'd gain more space than his salary, and that's if there was some massive roster bonus that hasn't paid (and there's no evidence that's the case).

 

Jeff Otah seriously did not appear to have the desire to play this game. He's been out 2 yrs. No problem opening that spot as Bell is a better player because he plays.
