    From the ESPN article... "All of the suspensions are without pay. The players are entitled to appeal the decision within three days. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell would hear their appeals."

    I've never understood why anyone would appeal. Not just this, but anything. To appeal any decision to the same source that handed down the initial punishment seems a bit futile to me. The only benefit I see is as a delay tactic... What am I missing?

    I feel the same. It's in the CBA, but you would think these things should go to some kind of arbitration.

    Off the field stuff does get appealed to an independent arbitrator. Still, I have to think Vilma's will get reduced. A whole season is very stiff.
