The fans clamoring for a DT reminds me of fans clamoring for a safety a few years back - or the press always expecting us to draft a TE high under Fox.

Either way - the FO sees it differently.

For me, I can't see how you pass up Kendall Reyes for Amini Silatolu in the second round... That was a mild "Wow" moment for me. So, I guess count me in with the "We need a DT crowd"

Guard was a pretty significant need too, plus I wasn't in love with any of the DTs in the second round either. Not taking Crick or Ta'amu in the 4th was a little frustrating, but Rivera didn't see it as a need.

And this is also a sign of the all-in with Fua and McClain. Add yet another draft pick here in 2012 and you, basically, call crap on one or both...give up on developing them.

At some point, you have to commit. I guess they've done that.

Hurney short-sells something every year. 2012 was the year for DT's despite what we think is an obvious need.

Didn't do much to address CB either, so that's both of the two biggest needs.

I wonder if JR was in on this. He stated that Fox wasn't able to develop young players, and he wanted Rivera to.

We have alot of young DT's. And corners. And WR.

I just prefer a guy who demands a double team at nose, someone you have to block with 2 not just clamp and release to backer. Someone who is mostly a run stuffer, anything they do in the pass rush is a bonus...thinking the Ravens 3X4.

Yeah defense is defense, the personell groupings might be different but the assignments are esentially the same. It's just a question of what you're willing to give up and having the right adjustments to suit your personell.
I tried to make that point with guys I've coached with, but most coaches will try the square peg in a round hole bit just to stick wih something they are comfortable with.
