Just pointing out that if they want a guard, they'd almost certainly trade down first. It's pretty unlikely that they would take DeCastro at #9.

    speaking of trading down...

    #7 Washington
    #8 Miami
    #9 Carolina
    #10 Buffalo

Right now we're ninth, but if this coming weekend Miami beats the Jets, New England beats Buffalo, & we lose to New Orleans, Miami would end up being 10th behind the Panthers and the Bills in the final order:

    #7 Washington
    #8 Carolina
    #9 Buffalo
    #10 Miami

...so we could potentially be in a nice spot for some team to trade ahead of the Dolphins for a QB, but I doubt it's likely in the end.

All of the QB's worth taking that high could very well be gone by the time #8 rolls around. And if Indy does lose the #1 pick to St Louis this weekend, the entire fate of the draft could change. Obviously consider the source, but the following mock is at least plausible, and would be damn near intriguing were St Louis to fire Spags after the season:

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...-order-projecting-first-round-of-picks/page/2

This would make up for Barkley going back to school, which definitely hurts our chances of a QB feeding frenzy in the top 10 this year, as only a couple of teams will be clearly thinking QB (Miami & Washington) and a few more that might be (Kansas City, Indy, Seattle, Cleveland), plus a couple darkhorses (Jax?, San Fran?, Jets?).

I think one of the few chances we might have to benefit from the QB shuffle this year would be a scenario like this:

-Miami beats the Jets & Indy beats the Jaguars in week 17 (Dolphins/Jets is a tossup, but I really think the Colts veterans rally here for Peyton here so it isnt even possible for Polian to take Luck, especially against division foe Jacksonville under interim leadership)
-Robert Griffin III declare for the draft
-St Louis fires Spagnuolo, hires Gruden
-St Louis trades Sam Bradford to Washington & takes Andrew Luck #1,
-Cleveland passes on Robert Griffin III and takes Trent Richardson at #4

If all of this were to happen, I could see the Panthers sitting pretty just ahead of Miami, with potential QB hungry teams like Seattle and maybe Kansas City looking to move ahead of Miami to get Robert Griffin III. I'm less optimistic teams are gonna feel compelled to trade up for Landry Jones. Since it's most unlikely Robert Griffin III is still available when Carolina is on the clock come April, we can forget about benefiting from the QB shuffle. Ultimately, we're gonna be one top-10 QB short from the conditions necessary for a legitimate first-round feeding frenzy. Damn you Matt Barkley!

Yeah, that depended on Barkley coming out. Luck & RG3 are the only guys worth trading up to get, and both will probably go top 5. It's not a big loss, though, since teams don't trade a lot to move up to 8 or 9.

Just once I'd like to see Hurney trade down and pick up some picks and get a player that will still help in the first round. One of the DTs that isn't worth a top 10.

The old Hurney, before the devil invaded his body, would do that.
