Actually Freeman was better, but that was also his second season instead of rookie season, so it's not a totally fair comparison. It's just that after Freeman, Matt Ryan before him, and Vince Young before him, people have a tendency to get a little too excited about young quarterbacks and assume they'll just get better.

Lots of chatter about him getting a head coaching job, which I didn't think was likely back when we only had two wins but is looking a lot more plausible now.

Wow, Collin, you've been sh!tting on Cam this entire thread. You're one of the ones who predicted Cam will fall on his face in the NFL. Instead of being a man and admitting you could be wrong.... you decide to nitpick everything he does/says in hopes of validating your original thoughts about him.

In the interview in which he commented about his team having a losing attitude, you claimed Cam said he's going to leave it it doesn't get better. However, in the interview, he specifically said "I"m not saying I"m going to leave in a few years"

Another thing you and the other haters have been doing is constantly moving the goalposts. You predicted he'd fall flat on his face, now that it hasn't happened, all you can do is point to things in the future that might happen that will finally prove you were right

"Wait til defenses adjust", "wait til Chud leaves", "look at Freeman"

Either man up and admit you were wrong or find another team to cheer for.

And LOL at you having the audacity to have Cam's pic as your avatar....as a "Fan" you don't deserve to.

You're an idiot. The Bucs were better as a team. Cam is vastly better this year than Freeman was last year. If you look at the combined TDs 34 to 20, passing yards 3893 to 3451, rush yards 364 to 874, comparable completion percentage 60 to 61 and still one game left it's not even close. Yes, the ints are 16 to 6, Freeman was a little more careful with the ball. Rushing TDs 14-0. I don't think people account for Cams threat as a rusher when they compare him to other qbs.

People like you shouldn't comment on Cam. It's painfully clear that you can't evaluate QBs for shit. Freeman was at more of an advantage having played some in his rookie year and having two full off seasons yet Cam is still better. I understand your caution but I think you're selling Cam short.

No, actually I didn't. In fact, go back and reread what I said. Hopefully you'll notice that I said Cam was the best QB prospect in this draft, that he had much better passing skills than Vince Young coming out of college, and that he probably wouldn't be a bust. What I did say in terms of being critical was that he'll never be an elite quarterback (might end up being wrong on that, but way too early to say so), that he has bad footwork (true), that he throws off his back foot too much (true), that he doesn't know how to read defenses (true), and that it's way to early to crown him as a future superstar (true).

    Here was the full quote:
"I'm that lion, and the house that I'm in is somewhat of a tarnished house where losing is accepted, you know. But I'm trying to change that, whether I have to change that house into a safari or I'm just gonna have to get out that house. Now I'm not saying ... Hear me out, what I'm saying now. I'm not saying I'm trying to, to, to leave this place. I'm just trying to get everybody on my level."

So yes, he did say he was going to "get out that house," then realized how arrogant and stupid it was for a guy three quarters of the way through his rookie season to threaten going elsewhere and tried to back off of it. He still said it, though, and the interviewer didn't even ask anything about that so he can't claim that he was baited or misinterpreted.

Put more thought into your posts and you'll be less likely to embarrass yourself.

[IMG] Mike Williams is talented, but he's no Steve Smith. Cam has more and better weapons to work with than Freeman did last season. And while you're correct that Newton looks better in comparison if you include all touchdowns, I've already noted my opinion that Cam's 1 to 3 yard touchdowns aren't all that special since they presumably could have been just as easily accomplished by handing off to one of the backs. His long TD runs are pretty awesome, but that still barely gets him by Freeman in total TDs, and you have to take off major points for all the turnovers. Freeman was simply more efficient last season, with half the turnovers that Newton has already committed.

    :rotflmao:

    edit:
For the record, I would rather have Cam Newton than Josh Freeman. I'm just pointing out that people have a tendency to get ahead of themselves in crowning young quarterbacks who have some early success. I told people not to do that with Freeman because he would regress this season, and I'm warning against doing it with Newton as well. He's a dynamic player who makes Panthers games fun to watch for the first time in forever, but there are still a lot of flaws that I hope he eliminates as he gains experience.

    edit2:
Just to see how awesome I truly am, do a forum search of my posts for "Freeman."
