Red Wings hang on for 4-2 win over Ducks
Henrik Zetterberg, Johan Franzen and Brad Stuart staked Detroit to a three-goal lead, and the Red Wings held on for a 4-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday night,November 20.
The Detroit Red Wings picked up where they left off as far as their offense was concerned.
Henrik Zetterberg found the net just 1:26 into the first period after Anaheim Ducks' Brandon McMillan blocked a long shot by Jiri Hudler . After McMillan had some difficulty controlling the puck, Zetterberg grabbed the puck and flipped a short backhander past Jonas Hiller for the score putting the Red Wings up 1-0.
Stuart had two goals, including an empty-netter he banked in off the right boards from the Detroit zone with 48 seconds to play, and Pavel Datsyuk had two assists after breaking out of a 12-game goal drought with a pair against the Los Angeles Kings in a 4-1 win on Saturday.
Just 14 seconds into the second period, Johan Franzen made it 2-0 after Pavel Datsyuk intercepted a pass from Anaheim's Cam Fowler and quickly sent it to Franzen, who released a wrist shot to the stick side of the goal for the score.
The Detroit Red Wings return on home ice this Wednesday and hope to douse the Calgary Flames at the Joe Louis Arena.

Sidney Crosby back for the game against Islanders

Sidney Crosby back for the game against Islanders
Sidney Crosby, who’s been sidelined since January 5, 2011 to post-concussion symptoms, is ready to play hockey again. It's the moment Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins -- as well as the NHL and many of its fans -- have been waiting for since the sport's most recognized star was diagnosed with a concussion Jan. 6 following hard hits in successive games.
Pittsburgh Penguins Sidney Crosby is back.on Monday night against the slumping Islanders.
For coach Jack Capuano’s club, it couldn’t have happened at a worse time.
Crosby, 23, was on pace for the NHL's highest-scoring season in 15 years, piling up 32 goals and 66 points in 41 games. But his season ended abruptly after hard hits leveled by the Capitals' David Steckel on Jan. 1 in the Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic and the Lightning's Victor Hedman on Jan. 5 left him with the first concussion of his career.
Capuano just ripped into his team after an embarrassing 6-0 defeat at the hands of the defending Stanley Cup champion Bruins on Saturday.
The New York Islanders will look to right the ship in Pittsburgh, but it will certainly be a daunting task.
The building should be amped up being as Crosby hasn’t played in almost a year since sustaining a concussion.
Crosby returned to practice nearly three months later, on March 31, with some hope that he might be available during the playoffs. But after his concussion symptoms returned in mid-April and the Penguins were eliminated in the opening round by Tampa Bay, Crosby's layoff extended into the offseason.

Chicago Blackhawks beat the Edmonton Oilers 6-3
The Chicago Blackhawks beat the Edmonton Oilers 6-3 on Sunday night for their third straight victory.
Jonathan Toews and Steve Montador have a big contribution that they each scored twice .
Duncan Keith had a goal and assist for Chicago (11-4-3), which handed Edmonton its third consecutive loss. Daniel Carcillo capped the scoring with an empty-net goal.
Ryan Smyth, Jordan Eberle and Shawn Horcoff scored for the Oilers (9-6-2).
As a defenseman playing his 10th NHL season, Montador had his first two-goal game. He scored one of his goals playing in a forward spot — and parked in the slot — on a power play.
Edmonton Oilers' Nikolai Khabibulin surrendered a season-high five goals on 34 shots and lost his second straight game in regulation after starting the season 7-0-2.
The Blackhawks came out firing at Khabibulin, who played four seasons in Chicago before signing as a free agent with Edmonton in July 2009.
Khabibulin, who entered the game with an NHL-leading 1.18 goals-against average and .957 save percentage, has allowed eight goals in the consecutive losses after permitting just nine in his first nine games.
Chicago's Corey Crawford made 20 saves.
Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Brent Seabrook sustained a lower-body injury in the second period and didn't return.
