Well...actually, it's normally the 43 that's better suited to stop the run. You have an extra down lineman on every down, playing their gaps or contain so they can route the runner into the backer.

With the 34, traditionally the backers have to engage at the POA and take on blockers, giving the OL extra time to get their blocks off. To run a 34 really well, it takes the kind of linemen who can hold up and swallow space. Takes a long time to learn though, but if we want to blitz, at least we can become somewhat exotic with our looks, and our lesser talent can just shoot the gaps. If we're going to sit back in zone, and we want to be a blitzing team, why not be a zone blitzing 34 sometimes.

Of course...we will only do it sometimes. We have a fuckton long way to go before we can play 34 with any regularity.

What works about it with us, IMO, is that with our linemen playing off the line, it's fine for them to engage and they're obviously strong enough to hit the line and hold.

It's surprising to see how bad Detroit is at stopping the run. Maybe that front 4 isn't the shit.

No really, you should just keep posting youtube videos.

You're talking about 4 linebackers vs. 3, having to engage OL and FBs. Um, no. The only reason the 34 has had lots of success vs. the run is because those top teams employ some fantastic LBs, and in the 34 you're able to freelance a bit more. You can hide errors more easily in the 34, and in the 43, you have to play disciplined, because when you vacate your gaps you expose yourself to big plays.

    Kinda like us.

Well, I can't say "us", I forgot. You don't like the Panthers anymore. :/ You only root for highschool football and shit, so you can check out the underage cheerleaders and load your Glock 21 behind the bleachers, daring a football player to look at you cross, or a cheerleader to turn you down.

you just have more big bodies, IMO. 3 DTs and Johnson, with a 250 lb Applewhite or Norwood. Or I guess Hardy could be an inside guy, which is a bit smaller.

Which, big misconception for anyone who thinks we're going to be two-gap, or that we're going to be suddenly scheme changing. They've put 3-4 looks in there a number of times, including CJ standing.

You still decide to rush 4 or 5, you're designing a coverage behind it, and you disguise the rest. With two good linebackers I like the idea of putting a better rush guy in there, moreso than I do the idea of playing a guy I've never fucking heard of (I honestly went to correct the announcers on Jason Phillips being Jason Williams, I completely missed we picked up another guy). They like Applewhite, CJ is versatile, and Anderson/Connor are the best blitzers we had in camp.

But since we'll see it around ten snaps, it's probably something that won't be noticed by most of the fanbase.

    First season coaching staff
taking over a last place team from last season
6 games in and you've won one game
Several defensive players on I R

    3-4

    Why not !

You can evaluate and gain experience with the players on roster this season

Allowing a clear idea of the holes you need to plug in draft and F/A

The offense is already clicking better than Fox's offense
Set the defense up for next season ,keep offense in tack
And you have a playoff team for seasons down the road

Rivera has a pass this season anyway
    Use it to experiment
