Pretty much confirms who the better back is, and how insane is was to give DeAngelo so much money.

 

Just amazing that we're using the players and truly trying to utilize all of their strengths now. We read on one end, and I know we're only 1-2, so it's not like we have a reason to get too excited, but we read about Stewart catching passes for 100 yards or so, Smitty finding his groove again and racking up yards and TDs, our TEs being used for match-ups in the passing game, while at the same time we read about Foxy's refusal in Denver to use Tebow near the goal line - something he's fucking really good at.

I don't miss that. I don't miss being frustrated at seemingly stubborn antics because he "had his way" and that was that.

He was a good coach. IS a good coach. He coaches strong, gets teams to play physical and never give up. But damn, I don't miss that.

I still love Williams, and believe overall, he's the better back, but it's getting harder and harder to believe that with Stewart doing what he's doing.

Williams has had an opportunity or two to kick it out and get extra yards more than a few times too, but he seems determined to run his assignment, and crash into a gap or lane even if it's plugged up. Don't get it. Either way....

 

Stewart's just acclimating easier. They're both great at anything but realistically it's hard to believe DW is as good as he's going to be in this offense.

Mr Collin's reply is not entirely accurate. We would be on the hook for signing bonus, 16 million in this case. Since it was prorated over 5 years, 3.2 million hit our cap this year leaving 12.8 to hit our cap next year if he is cut or traded. If traded, the team that gets him accepts the other contract terms. His deal garanteed 5 million of his year 2012 salary which would not be our hit, but I think Collin included.

 

the old rules (pre-CBA issues, anyway) still apply about June 1 cuts too, in that if DW was traded off after then, the remainder would push to the next year.

All of this is immaterial, though, since he's not going to be traded.
