Ugh. 32 is too old for more than a cheap contract on this team. Really stupid move, and probably takes us out of the running for Mebane.

Doubt we were ever in the running. I have a feeling they want 'roleplayers' in FA to fill the gaps in the 'core' that we draft.

And we drafted Mclain and Fua.

NOt saying either way is good or bad, just saying backing up the dump truck for JOhnson and finding mid-level guys in UFA is pretty much standard hurney MO.

Of course, then there's the shockey move.

Seems like Hurney has been gunshy about big money free agents since the off-season of Wahle and Lucas.

I liked the Shockey move till I saw that Todd Heap is going to be cut. I like Heap a lot. As far as Edwards I can't say whether the money is too much or not, I did look at his stats and he's started every game the last 5 years so we know he's durable. And seems to have done a decent job and has good size.

Chiefs fans like him. He's old, but fuck it. It's a big body inside that we've needed.

I guess I'm gonna have to read up, I didn't even know who this guy was.

32 does sound old for a three year deal.

I'd have been in favor of this signing last off-season when I thought the team was competitive. It's not an enormous amount of money and he's a decent player, but I just don't see how it fits with a rebuilding effort. Maybe the front office is delusional and thinks the team will have a quick turnaround.
