this pick kinda came out of no where for me...remind again what our linebacker situation is going into next year? Beason, Conner, Davis (coming off injury again), but Anderson is a free agent?

With free agency coming after the draft this year, its kinda interesting to see teams playing their cards. The Eagles didnt get anyone for a glaring need at corner may imply they're going after Asomugha, the Patriots not getting anyone for their pass rush may imply they're going to fix that need via free agency, etc. I would guess we'll pay a good chunk of change for a TE potentially.

As bad as the panthers were on Offense last year is anyone surprised that this draft wasnt more offensive minded?

we needed depth everywhere. I don't think that the defense was deeper. plus, logically I'd anticipate some effort from veterans on O.

Not surprised because we need depth, especially in the defensive side.

I think we take that Eagles/Patriots mentality and let TD walk. We'll make a run at James Anderson, and barring that, let everyone else settle out those 3 positions on the field.
