    1) Canes win Stanley Cup (2006); NC first pro title in front of a home crowd at RBC Center :) :) !!!!!!
    2) NC State wins NCAA Title in Greensboro (1974); Towe/Bureleson/Thompson ends UCLA Title Run
    3) UNC Beats Kansas to win NCAA Title (1957); Plants seed of college hoops becoming big on TV in NC
    4) Opening of Charlotte Motor Speedway (1959); Plants seed of NC becoming hub of NASCAR
    5) Charlotte wins NBA Expansion Franchise (1987) & NFL (1993); Begins rise of pro sports in NC followed by NHL Canes moving to Raleigh in 1997

    I'd reverse 1 and 2. Otherwise I think that's a decent list.
