    Bates handled the Denver Broncos quarterbacks in 2008, when he called plays for the NFL’s No. 2 offense and helped Jay Cutler reach the Pro Bowl. Cutler established single-season team highs in completions (384), attempts (616), yards (4,526, 1st AFC, 3rd NFL) and most 300-yard games (8).

    google news on him, I guess he just wasn't a fit & the offense ranked in the bottom of the league... didn't help that they had to juggle the OL, cut TJ Houseyamama and traded away Branch

    I don't know if he falls into the "teacher" type Rivera is looking for

    Because he refused to carry pom poms on the sidelines. I doubt he was Pete "rah-rah" Carroll's type of coach.
