QB is our biggest issue by far. I am not sure that drafting another guy is the answer though. Probably better to find a solid vet and let Clausen, Pike or another draft pick develop from the bench.

Keep trying till you get a good one. i don't think any of those we have will ever develop into much of anything. I think the one that had the best chance never got a chance and I doubt he would have been the answer but never know till you try

I pray we can find a trade partner and assume below that we will.

Trade down with Tennessee. Hopefully they will be enamored with a QB to replace Young. Pick up #8, #39, #77, and a 2nd rounder next year. Package #97 and #98 to move up to #74. I used the draft pick value chart to make sure all trades are balanced.

8 - WR Julio Jones, Alabama (less bust potential than Green IMO)
39 - CB Janoris Jenkins, Florida
65 - DT Drake Nevis, LSU
74 - OG Clint Boling, Michigan
77 - OT Tyron Smith, USC

Add a QB in free agency to mentor Clausen who, like it or not, will get another chance in Carolina... just hopefully not next year. Volek sounds intriguing. Maybe even McNabb can help us bridge the gap for a season or two.

We keep Johnson, Kalil, Davis, and Rosario. Tag DeAngelo. Try to keep Anderson, but do not overspend. Marshall is gone. King is gone.

Have a heart to heart with Steve Smith. The Jones pick gives us the flexibility to deal him if he desires (and we can find an interested party).

In 2012, we'd have an added second rounder from Tennessee plus an additional 2nd or 3rd if we deal Smith.

I'm not sure you can trade compensatory pick 98, but fair enough. Where did 77 come from?

Oops... forgot that we also get Tennessee's 3rd rounder in the deal (#77).

    1st pick value is 3000.

8th is 1400, 39th is 510, and 77th is 205. That's 2115 points plus a 2nd next year. Technically, Tennessee would get premium value as a future 2nd is really only worth between 116-265. But it's a weak draft....

Compensation picks are selections come at the end of the rounds starting in the third. Their value is based on the level of the player. Peppers would be a third. Are compensation picks in 3rd-7th?

Not a bad scenerio. It does not address DT as early as I would like but it does give us some value for the #1 pick. I think you plan on moving Smith if you do this though. Not enough balls to go around at that point.
