This may just be my perception, but Richardson's press conference was fucking awful, and if I'm a QB deciding what to do and I see that, I stay in school too. He was adamant that Harbaugh wasn't in the running and that a college coach won't be our next headcoach. If I'm Andrew Luck, I gotta be thinking this organization doesn't value college experience very highly, and the owner comes off as a stubborn arrogant selfish prick....I'd be inclined to go back to school as well.

JR should have been trying to court Luck at every opportunity. It doesn't seem like he gave ANY effort publicly to try to get Luck to choose to play for the Panthers. Now what will jhappen is we'll pick at #1 because there is nobody else who really wants the #1 pick, then we'll pick up a few players in late rounds and we'll have some DC head coach and still have no identity as a football team. Maybe that will land us with the #1 pick again next year, but Richardson lost a lot of my respect at that press conference....it was a lot like watching Joe Namath's famous sideline interview where he was drunk.

When do we, as an organization, get aggressive to make moves to build a winning franchise?

    LUCK

I can come out and play for the Panthers

A team that has no coaches
    very few Vets on roster
    28 F/A on roster
An owner who is riding the CBA out
A # 1 WR that wants out of Carolina
A O L that got ever QB that played last season sacked several times
A team that may not hire a coach till June or July to save $$
A team that could effect badly my first 3-4 years in the N F L as far as STAT's

Or I can go back to college and hope for an owner next season that has a better focus
    More Vets on roster
Coaches in place or an idea of who the coach will be

Granted if your drafing #1 you had problems, But if you have an IDEA of where your going ,and willing to do what it takes to get there.

Then its a better situation already !

I still don't understand why they even had a press conference. For the love of all that's holy, why?!!? Burn bridges much?

How about this... You say Harbaugh, Luck, and anyone else they ask about are being looked at. The door is open for talks. Then, get this, you don't have to draft or hire any of them if you don't want to! Or better yet, don't have a PC until things settle down.

And those points you made Skull, well... it's pretty fucking sad to see it spelled out like that.

Agree with all the previous that GoldenHammer said, but this last question is the bottomline,,, and sadly I'm afraid as JR stated "he is enthusiastic" about the future, I'm afraid he believes he is doing something good for this franchise already and there will be no changes. Yet we lowly ignorant no-nothing fans repeatedly see star players after star players going and shining for other teams. This last line is the real question, and I'm not sure if JR knows how to get it done.

I also still do not understand the reason for last weeks' "lets burn some bridges" press conference. It was obvious that Hurney is no more than a "yes man". And I'm starting to believe that the only way we get this franchise heading back in the right direction is only if/when JR hires a new general manager who is bold and brave enough to stand up to him, who is also football knowledgable. I am still perplexed as to WHY last weeks' press conference, unless they just wanted to clear the air that they WERE NOT interested in Harbaugh. We certainly have questions, for sure.

Jerry Richardson might as well go by George Shinn

I've been having a hard time getting the "assistants only" aspect to hiring a new coach. Granted, George Siefert was a disaster, but we've had all those years with Capers and Fox and we've never had back to back winning seasons. What makes Richardson thin the third time's the charm?

i understand all the negative nancy stuff because people are pissed, but some folks seem like they're gonna look at everything in the worst way possible and insist its the truth.
who knows if harbaugh will work out. he's not yet worth 5 mil a yr in the nfl to a lot of teams.
may want to see how things work out for us when there is football again.
lets blame the cba on jerry too.
he's going the route he's going and he'll pay for performance.
the more i think about the presser, it was pretty awkward, but so fucking what. people w/ that much money can be however they want.
bottome line for jerry was fox wasn't getting it done often enough.
its an awkward situation for every team and player in the nfl right now and at the same time we need a new coach.
they'll put together a staff, and if parts aren't working they'll be replaced until he gets what wants. awkward or not, he wants a winning program.
he wants better results than fox gave us. i'm cool with that.

The Panthers weren't consistent before Fox. The same guy picking a new coach has opicked all our previous inconsistent coaches, and the same GM who apparently has higher say on players will be in on our next draft whenever that may come. Yeah, that is reason to be optimistic.

    Come on LOCK OUT!!! :de-mote:

Does that all fall on Fox or is the front office as much to blame?
