    New England has drafted like shit for the last few years, (outside of the first) not sure you want to use them as the beacon we should all follow in the draft.

    most sites have edwards rated somewhere in the 4 point somethings (if he has a draft grade at all). For reference - Clausen probably averaged in the high eights and LeFell in the high sevens.

    Edwards = fours

    .. . so next years 2nd to take the guy 89 overall seems good? :saywhat:

    If we had taken Tate in the first after trading up, most of you guys would be ecstatic. But he ended up going 60th overall, so it would have been a huge reach and no one would have even known it.

    Bottom line, trying to predict where a player SHOULD go is pointless. If Edwards is a bust, I'll give Fox and Hurney shit, but I won't give them shit for where they picked a guy.

    Kiper gave Edwards a 4th round grade. Says:

    "In workouts leading up to the draft has shown decent hands and early indications that a transition to WR in NFL will be sucessful. With his athleticism and quickness Edwards could be a developmental slot WR that pays dividends down the road"

    Has him at 4.43 in the 40.

    I think this would've been a very good pick at our spot in round 4. I think it would have been a good pick at the spot where we picked him if it was not a pick we had to trade for. It could work out fine, but I think we "overpaid" for him.

    if edwards ended up being half as good as Welker in the slot or early Smitty at returning then sure, I'll get on board with taking him at 89 . . . I'll even get behind giving a 2nd, but right now it seems like the biggest draft day lurch Fox & Co have made to date. I'd think that most fans are going to question this move until Edwards would prove to be at least half the early contributor of a Smith or Welker
