I agree, but I think they can win the wildcard.

 

Peter Moylan signed for 2010. I keep hearing that Johnny Damon is a possibility.

The word is that he's about burned all of his bridges, The Yankees have apparently moved on and the Detroit Tigers were rumored to have interest but have since said no thanks, the village idiot may have fallen right into the Braves price range but I would say anything over $4 mil per would be a waste!

 

Damon is a risk at his age. I like McClouth in CF but Damon could have another year in him. I'm really on the fence about Damon becoming a Brave.

 

Your straddling that fence so hard your nuts must hurt.

Watching Damon play the outfield is like watching a drunk cross a busy four lane street or listening to W Bush giving a speech. You can't help but pull for the guy to not hurt himself. If Damon is willing to play for 4 million, somebody will pick him up as a utility OF.


I'm more worried about Lowe than the OF. I fear he's about done. The Brave owe him a chunk of money. That's not good when you're counting every penny.

 

Everybody has concerns about Lowe but Wrenn must have been confident or he would have not set Vasquez to New York. As for Damon, I'm not the only one sitting on the rail because he's still a free agent.

 

If Lowe was tradable Wrenn would have sent him away instead of Vaz.

As much as it pains me to say, I'd take a flier on Johnny for $4mill. Plus it's fun watching him play the field.

 

Lowe's contract was part of the reason that teams didn't want him in a deal. I'd take a chance on Damon too but it would have to be an incentive based deal with not a lot guaranteed.

Choosing between Detroit, Atlanta, Tampa Bay, or White Sox. I'm hoping he becomes a Brave for 1 season, myself. I think he'd help.

 

Reports are the Tigers have offered him 2 years which is what Scott Boras is pushing for.
