Bobcats on WFNZ

Do they even bother with a pre/post game show now since the Bobcats air their games on WFNZ? I listened to the post game wrap up after tonight's Bobcats/Knicks 2OT game and they only spent a couple of minutes going over the score and stats and then that was it (WFNZ switched back to ESPNRADIO). I mean, they finally got flagship programming and they can't allow the Bobcats an extra 15-20 mins. to go into more details about the game ? ? ? Do they even do a pregame show now (PRIMETIME doesn't end until 6:55pm, so probably not)?

I was wondering about the same thing. I got in my car after the game Friday night (about 5-10 minutes after the game was over) and there was no post-game show. I always enjoyed the wrap-up and Larry Brown's comments on the way home. That's just silly...like you say, they finally get to be the flagship for a pro team and this is what they do? If they keep stuff like this up, I hope the Bobcats didn't sign a long-term deal with them.

 

maybe it was because the game went into 2 overtimes?? they did play a game on 1660 the other night when there was a schedule conflict- UNC Buthch Davis show or NFL game. I cant remember which.

 

Your beef should be with the Bobcats not WFNZ. The Bobcats own and operate the radio network just like the Panthers own their own radio network. WFNZ (or WBCN) picks up the game off satellite just like any other affiliate.

It was made known in the off season, before it was known what station they would be on, that there would be no pre-game or post-game show. The team let go all of the radio crew except for the Play by Play announcer and the engineer. The studio host that does the short pre-game, half time and score updates has some other job with the team I understand.

I was told that the team hoped who ever became the flagship would produce their own pre-game and post-game show. In this economy that was wishful thinking.

I guess the Bobcats are lucky to have radio at all...

Bob Johnson=Claude Brochu of Baseball ? ? ? ? Its plain as day now that he doesnt have the financial gumption to be a pro team majority owner . . . To skimp on halftime activites at the game and your radio production is extremely short sighted . . I'll be glad when he's gone as an owner!!!!

 

In fairness to Bob Johnson, this is going on in a lot of places in the league.

That applies to both of these sorry entities (Bobcats & WFNZ). Do they not understand we have other choices about how we spend our time and our money?

 

I think I've heard Brevin Knight doing Commentary on the Home games lately . . . . I wonder why they just don't cough up the cash and make him the permanent full time Commentary guy? I'm sure the PbP voice would love the extra help in getting ready for game night every night (setting up interviews, getting stats together, etc.)
