hard to say, but clearly he's going to get a lot of notoriety for being a running quarterback in a league that probably will want him to run as a reaction instead of a specified act, if at all. He'd have to show he can pass in the pocket.

But at this point I also have to believe him a passer, not anything else. Like most runners it's just going to be whether he can get past his running to develop the passing.




as for drafting a player at QB, I'm OK with that. Partially if Moore/McCown don't show enough; partially if Jake does well and it looks like we have time. I don't know if Fox would, but I know we'll have other things to fix first, too.

 

tebow is a terrible option for nfl quarterback for myriad reasons. brantley will get some good PT this year for the gators as a passer.

 

There were also myriad reasons to not take Vince Young and Alex Smith, that won't stop teams.

 

WANTED: Back up QB with upside

THE PROBLEM: McCown ( Journeyman as best making 1.7 m this year (this money could be used in OL/DT depth and sign Michael Vick as another option .If the Panthers do not take the QB or (Game Manager) position serious than we will be in trouble again if Delhomme gets hurt and out for long period of time or maybe we can call Vinny again.

 

Really? Who? Give us the names of some of these guys that we can sign with what's left of that 1.7 million after we sign another QB. Or are you thinking we go into the season with Delhomme, Moore, & Cantwell?

Really? Imagine that. The Panthers are just like almost every other team in the league and will be in trouble if we lose our starting QB.

I am upset with the panthers not trying to upgrade their QB position, which I also think is one reason we will fall short again to advance into the playoffs. Bright spot is next year will be a crop of college QB's coming out and some decent free agents also.Now the bad part is that panthers and some fans are fixed on McCown, who will be always a journeyman at best making 1.7 m this year ; Moore, undrafted by all 32 teams and cut by dallas, who will need 5 years to develop with playing experience to see if he is any more than a backup; Hunter, also undrafted, same as above. I think the panthers should consider Michael Vick and dump McCown this year and look at next years draft for their QB of the future (if vick is not the answer).
