TEs contributed a little bit this past year. We certainly don't need much more than we have, anything else would be gravy. We're a downfield passing team. TEs are secondary options on a team whose QB doesn't dump down.
[woodie]maybe we should trade barnidge to a place that deserves him, then[/woodie]

King is the new Mangum and I'm fine with that. When you have Steve Smith and Mushin Muhammad, the TE's simply aren't going to see many passes thrown their way.

Rosario is a backside TE and special teams player, and that's not an insult. It's what he is. Same with Barnidge. They have interchangeable skill sets.

Look, I'm not going to get into one of those multi-page back and forth arguments you're famous for. I don't really care if you agree or disagree with me; I've made my points, and you and anyone else can take from it what you will...no skin off my nose. Anything else I say would just be repeating the same points over and over and wouldn't accomplish anything but prolonging a thread that left the tracks a long time ago. So, I'll agree to disagree, and leave it at that. Life goes on, and what happens will happen.

I wonder if Jake would be more efficient and force fewer balls if he did have more dump down options like a solid tight end. An 8 yard gain to a tight end sure beats an interception on an attempted 25 yards pass to a double covered Smith.

I think it's safe to say jake won't stop looking for smith no matter how many other options we give him.

What the Panthers have now are solid dump off tight ends....that's exactly how they are used and they do a solid job with that. You don't need anything special at the position just to use them for "dump downs".

and that's been more successful than not, mostly thanks to Smith. I'd want that too.

we have mostly dumpoff options and that's all we need (that wasn't in question, no one's asking for an upgrade). We have young and cheap, which is what we want.

King finally did stop falling right at the spot, and Rosario has some ability after the catch/deep, but mostly either will dig to the sideline or post...not much else. Certainly not a lot of crossing.

I like the short passing game. We don't use it much...and TEs more than backs. we're actually a pretty aggressive passing game. The screen game was a stress for a while but with so much running there's less ability.

Funny, I never thought of him that way, but you're probably right. I think he's more talented than Mangum, but I can see how they are similar.
