That sounds like alarmist mumbo jumbo. I'm not doubting your facts, even if true, these are still only scientific facts, not religious, unless you want to make it your religion.

Is time getting shorter or am I just getting older? :beatnik2:

That's absolutely not true. Science is about generating hypotheses and using process to prove or disprove them. Religion is PURELY faith. This discussion is pointless.

Having holes in a theory does not invalidate that theory. There are holes in the theory of gravity, but are you seriously going to deny its existance? The problem with religion, like any other theory, is that it has ZERO evidence. Why do you continually avoid that point?

And in terms of the outer edges of the Universe expanding, what we know, is that it appears to be moving away from us at increasing rates. But that also could be, to some extent, a function of our position and velocity in relative space. And the mathematical framework of the expanding universe is what gives rise to the subject of dark energy. If the rules of mathematics holds, then there is a fundamental substratum force that gives weight to "emtpy" space. But unfortunately it is probably not God. More likely an energetic undercurrent that ties actualized matter and gives rise to strange, yet highly predictable, behavior like entanglement. If the Large Hadron Collider finds the mathematically predicted Higgs boson, then once again science and math wins the day.

In other words, it is looking like the Buddhists were always right about the interconnectedness of all "things."

Luke 18:8b (NIV) When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?

    Believing The Truth

Faith is believing in what is true. Faith has two elements: 1) being convinced of the truth, being certain of reality, having evidence of unseen things, and 2) believing, hoping in, embracing, seizing the truth.
Heb 11:1 (KJV) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Heb 11:1 (NIV) Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
Heb 11:1 (NEB) Faith... makes us certain of realities we do not see.
Heb 11:1 (Mof) Now faith means that we are confident of what we hope for, convinced of what we do not see.
Heb 11:1 (Wey) Now faith is a well-grounded assurance of that for which we hope, and a conviction of the reality of things which we do not see.
While faith requires being convinced that what we believe in is true, just knowing the truth is only half of faith. God's word must be hoped for, embraced, seized!
Luke 17:5 (NIV) The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith!" He replied, "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it will obey you."
Believing is not exactly the same as faith. For belief to be faith, it must light on what is certainly true. Yet Scripture gives examples of situations where belief alone is required, even commanded. There's no time for evidence collection, to wait, to hear, for certainty. Just believe. Like Peter walking on the water--don't think, act! God even requires us to believe in him when, temporarily, the evidence looks bad: to trust. [We will study belief and trust separately.] God requires belief and trust in moments of human weakness, but faith is what makes us strong. Faith is the state of being convinced about what we hope for.
    How To Get More Faith

Contrary to popular teaching, faith is not mental delusion, presumption or self-deception, but a work of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God.
Rom 10:17 (NIV) Faith comes by hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.
Rom 10:17 (Phi) Faith, you see, can only come from hearing the message, and the message is the word of Christ. Rom 10:17 (Wey) And this proves that faith comes from a Message heard, and that the Message comes through having been spoken by Christ.

Are you going to deny the existance of Jesus? There is tons of historical evidence to show he existed. The hole in the theory - as you describe it - is that he was the Son of God.

So when your belief system has a problem, you can just make simething up and its OK, but when one you don't believe in does the same, they are idiots.

    Good to know.

Again, yo umight want to read up on some of the problems with the universe expanding accelerating - which is at odds with gravity.

Of course it is pointless - you have already made up your mind that science is good and reliigion is bad and, as your first post indicates, can see no space where the 2 cooexist. I hate to break it to you, but evolution is not inconsistent with religion.

I don't deny Jesus' existence. What I deny is any evidence of his divine nature, which if it holds, invalidates the Christian religion.

How do get that from what I wrote? Are we really discussing this seriously or should I devolve back into one liners?

Not if gravity is not the only factor. The fact that you would make that encompassing statement, knowing even less than the scientists, surrenderes your credibility.

Religion is not bad. Science is not good. Good and bad is not a rational assessment of science. As a theory of existence, religion has ZERO evidence supporting it. As a method for social interaction, it has multiple benefits. But a social methodology for good relations is not equivalent to an evidence based, ground up theory of existence consistently supported by mathematical models and tested experiments intended to break the theory.

Show me evidence of this spirit's existence. Believing something is true when there is nothing supporting it, is deluded in every other aspect of your life except your religion.
