    it's harsher than the other beers of its class, partially because they have a little bit of lactic acid in there as a holdover from when their carbonation would partially come from unfermented sugars added to bottles/kegs.

    Most stouts don't have anything lactic. The bitter part isn't a big deal, most beer is supposed to have flavor, of which bitter is a varying but integral part.

    Blanche de Bruxelles. OK witbier, a little drier. Very heavy processed Pils taste - dry, DMS ('cooked corn'), more coriander and yeast spicy without much citrus. Gonna follow it with Watou Tripel, then Tripel Karmeliet.

    Guinness Nothing like sucking d

    Having drunk Guinness most of my life I can tell you it's better than sucking your favorite popsicle mention above.

    My limit used to be 25 pints a night minimum with the last 2 or 3 with 2 finger depth charges of whiskey.

    There's nothing like a good Guinness.

    Harviestoun is a very good brewery in Scotland (edinburgh, i think) that makes Old Engine Oil. It pretty much looks exactly as you would think it looks like. It is good stuff, I would recomend it.

    Sorry for quoting such an old post. I rarely venture outside of the panthers forum.

    true story. Old Engine Oil is some very good beer.
